Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 26 — 1:10 p.m. A caller reported that a restraining order had been violated on two occasions. 2:05 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department was asked to assist with a structure fire in Cowlitz County. The request was later canceled. 3:51 p.m. A caller was concerned that someone was taking financial advantage of a Rosburg resident. 10:44 p.m. A motorist reported that a deer was still in the road after being hit just west of County Line Park.

June 27 — 1:46 a.m. Several alarms were activated at a Puget Island home. A deputy investigated and found the house secure and unoccupied. 9:40 a.m. Child abuse was reported at a Puget Island home. CPS and a deputy investigated and found no evidence of abuse. 9:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a patient from the clinic in Cathlamet to the hospital. The individual had fallen the day before. 11:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had hip pain after a fall. 12:20 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 12:26 p.m. A neighbor’s barking dogs elicited a complaint from a Cathlamet resident. 1:46 p.m. A corrections officer was threatened by an inmate. 3:51 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. 5:19 p.m. An individual with a warrant was taken into custody. 9:09 p.m. A caller reported that two bikes had been sitting on the side of a Puget Island road next to the Columbia River for some time. She was concerned about the kids and requested a welfare check. A deputy responded and didn’t find anyone. 11:34 p.m. A caller reported that someone had been shooting at their Elochoman Valley home. A deputy responded and more complaints were made. The deputy determined that the complaints were unfounded.

June 28 — 7:45 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that the back window of his car had been shot out. 10:16 a.m. A caller reported a motor vehicle accident on SR 4 in the Alger Creek area. No injuries were reported. 3:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported an individual with abdominal pain from the clinic in Cathlamet to the hospital. 5:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual who had glass in her foot. 6:28 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a burglary. 6:59 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 7:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with abdominal pain.

June 29 — 10:52 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that two people in a truck had parked in front of his home with their lights off. After shining a spotlight on them, he reported that they cursed at him and then moved the truck. 11:15 p.m. A Puget Island resident became concerned after seeing people loading a pickup at a neighbor’s home. The homeowner came home and reported that it was just someone returning a ladder.

June 30 — 4:38 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that he was holding three subjects at gunpoint who had broken into his home. A deputy arrived and said that no such subjects were there. A representative from the mental health department responded. 4:54 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 6:57 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who had fallen and could not get up on her own. 8:44 a.m. An individual turned himself in on a warrant. 11:29 a.m. A caller reported that someone was kicking a sign at a Cathlamet business. 12:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 2:13 p.m. The Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office was asked to assist after a Longview resident was reported missing. 2:46 p.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle on an Elochoman Valley road. 5:04 p.m. A driver was pulled over after veering off the road and nearly causing a head on accident in the Skamokawa area. He was taken into custody after failing a breathalyzer test. 11:07 p.m. A caller reported that a tree was down on Altoona-Pillar Rock Road and blocking both lanes of traffic. The County Road department responded and removed the tree.

July 1 — 6:20 a.m. A caller reported that two horses were loose on Puget Island. The owner was contacted. 7:01 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. 2:41 p.m. A caller reported that her estranged husband had picked up their daughter and told her that he was not bringing her back. They did not yet have a formal custodial plan, just a verbal visitation agreement. 3:17 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department was asked to bring a tender to assist with a structure fire in Cowlitz County. 3:48 p.m. The Wahkiakum Sheriff’s Office was asked to be on the lookout for an individual who was possibly armed and wanted for arson in Cowlitz County. 9:33 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained that a neighbor’s dog repeatedly came on to her property. 11:39 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop just west of County Line Park.

July 2 — 10:06 a.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at an abandoned home in the Alger Creek area. 2:28 p.m. A caller reported that an electrical wire was down in the Elochoman Valley area. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded and the PUD was notified. 2:41 p.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded to a possible brush fire in the Alger Creek area. It was a false alarm. A neighbor was burning brush and it was under control. 3:47 p.m. A caller reported that he had left a travel trailer on KM because there was a problem with the brakes on his truck. He would return the next day to get it. 11:32 p.m. A caller reported that someone was lighting fireworks nearby.

July 3 — 9:09 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with abdominal pain. 9:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having an allergic reaction to a recent injection. 9:59 a.m. A caller reported a possible domestic disturbance in a car parked in front of a Cathlamet business. 11:32 a.m. A caller reported that a deer that had been struck by a vehicle was on the side of SR 4 near Nassa Point. 5:33 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading west on SR 4 just west of County Line Park.

July 4 — 10:40 a.m. A caller reported that a goat had been left at a Rosedale business. 3:18 p.m. A caller was concerned after receiving strange texts from a family member. He was advised to get a protection order. 5:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who may have had a heart attack. 9:47 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about a neighbor’s fireworks after her horse got so upset it went through a fence. 10:09 p.m. Illegal fireworks were reported at Vista Park. 10:25 p.m. A caller was concerned that the fireworks being set off in the parking lot by the Cathlamet library were hitting nearby homes and might start a fire because it was so dry out. 10:47 p.m. Illegal fireworks were reported at Vista Park.

July 5 — A caller heard a dog that sounded like it might be hurt. Someone investigated and discovered it was a coyote. 6:24 a.m. A caller reported that a dog in Cathlamet had been missing since 10 p.m. on July 4. 8:49 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that her computer had been hacked. 9:31 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that his mailbox had been damaged in a hit and run. Part of the vehicle that had struck the mailbox was found nearby.

July 6 — 8:56 a.m. A caller reported that an ethanol tanker had run aground near Skamokawa. No hull damage was reported. 9:55 a.m. A two car accident was reported on Main Street in Cathlamet. No injuries were reported. 10:40 a.m. A caller reported a disoriented man walking along SR 4 in the Rosedale area. Deputies were unable to locate the individual. 9:46 p.m. A man allegedly assaulted a woman and child at a Deep River home.

July 7 — 12:14 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle had driven out in the pasture by his Skamokawa home. He was concerned because of the late hour. It turned out that someone had come to repair a tractor. 1:04 p.m. A caller complained about barking dogs in Cathlamet. 5:20 p.m. An individual in Cathlamet with a warrant was taken into custody. 8:20 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that her husband had threatened to kill her. Deputies responded. 10:35 p.m. A caller reported that a man was walking down the middle of SR 4 in the Skamokawa area.

July 8 — 11:20 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley home after the report of an overdose. 2:23 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on a Puget Island road. 2:41 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a brush fire reported on Greenwood Road. 10:25 p.m. A caller reported loud music at a party at a Rosedale home. A deputy responded and asked the neighbor to turn the music down. 10:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Alger Creek resident who had cut his arm.

July 9 — 4:35 p.m. A caller reported that tree branches had fallen on SR 4 near Nassa Point. He was concerned that more might come down. 6:19 p.m. An individual with a warrant was taken into custody in Grays River. 7:33 p.m. An individual with a warrant fled when a deputy tried to take her into custody on Beaver Creek. The deputy asked for assistance in her pursuit, but officers were unable to locate the individual. 8:33 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver headed west on SR 4 in the Rosedale area.
