Alex James “Jim” Allenback, 82, of Cathlamet, died October 19, 2017 at the Longview Hospice. Jim was born December 12, 1934 in Montpelier, Idaho to Alex W. and Flora (Jakeman) Allenback.

He is survived by his wife Gladys at home, a daughter Vicki Allenback of Skamokawa, a son Alex Allenback, Jr. of Willow Creek, Calif., and a sister, Penny Andrada of Los Angeles, Calif., many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. He spent 33 years working as a construction superintendent, building bridges and freeways in the San Francisco Bay area, retiring in 1993. In 2005 he and Gladys moved to Cathlamet.

Through his life Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and scuba diving. He was a loving, caring husband and father. There will be no service at his request. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
