Holiday bazaar offers local crafts, arts, holiday treats

Surrounded by their craftwork, sisters Deb Gribskov and Pam Wynia worked together on a very old loom while they waited for customers. "I'm losing my eyesight," Wynia said."Deb is teaching me how to do this. I don't want to embrace the negative. They say when God closes a door, he opens a window. Deb is my window."
On Saturday, the annual St. James Holiday Bazaar was bustling with shoppers looking for handmade gifts from a variety of vendors.

Sonia Tover has a good eye for creating Christmas decorations. Here she recycled some old pieces to create a wreath.
Volunteers served chowder and treats, and Fred Carter entertained the crowd with Christmas music. There was art, and crafts, some fancy relish, and all kinds of sugary treats.
According to Hannah Booth, St. James had already sold twice as many tickets for their raffle baskets as the year before. In fact, they were able to raise $973 to support St. James programs.
Gwen Gorley won the Cooking in the Kitchen Basket; Nancy Nelson won the Spa Basket, Sally Barnes won the Columbia River Ranch Basket; Mary Johnson won the Garden Basket; Helene Watson won the River Mile 38 Basket; Tim Hoven won the Family Time Basket; Diana Zimmerman won the Wahkiakum County Bounty Basket, and a woman named Dolly won the Vanwinkle Espresso Basket.
