Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 26 — 6:11 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a one vehicle accident due to slick roads on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. The driver refused transport to the hospital. 10:33 a.m. An individual was taken into custody when a warrant was served at a Rosedale home. 3:28 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department and the Grays River ambulance responded to a structure fire in Grays River. 3:36 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that she had been struck by an intoxicated family member. At 4:50 p.m, the caller said that the individual had returned and was suicidal. The caller then told the sheriff’s office to disregard the call and not come back to the home. At 6:46 p.m., a deputy said everything was okay. 9:21 p.m. A homeowner found that a garage door had been damaged in what appeared to be an attempted burglary in Skamokawa. 9:22 p.m. Lights were left on and a door remained open at a meeting room in Cathlamet. A deputy investigated.

December 27 — 2:34 a.m. A truck was found in a ditch in the Skamokawa area. 10:26 a.m. An individual was seen going through trailers at Nassa Point. The caller believed the man was stealing things. 3:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who may have had a stroke. 4:42 p.m. A caller reported a large boulder on SR 4 near Nassa Point.

December 28 — 8:15 a.m. A truck at a Puget Island home was vandalized with eggs and toilet paper. 1:57 p.m. A Rosburg resident complained when he found a neighbor’s pigs in his yard. 5:48 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a disturbance in Cathlamet. 9:06 p.m. A battery was dropped off at the sheriff’s office for a Cathlamet resident. The individual complained that the recipient of the battery had been harassing her about it and wasn’t at home when she arrived to drop it off. 9:11 p.m. A caller reported that a Cathlamet resident was confused and locked out of his home. His family was contacted.

December 29 — 12:05 p.m. A caller reported that some livestock were being mistreated in the Skamokawa area. 1:35 p.m. A caller reported rocks in the westbound lane of SR 4 near County Line Park. 2:38 p.m. A caller reported a commercial vehicle in a Puget Island ditch. The company was contacted. 4:12 p.m. A caller reported that there was water over Risk Road. The road in Eden Valley was closed at milepost 2 due to high water. 5:10 p.m. A power outage was reported in the Rosburg area. The PUD was notified and the power was restored at 5:47 p.m. 5:31 p.m. A landslide just west of Stella closed SR 4 until the next day. The Washington State Department of Transportation was notified and on scene at 5:52 p.m. They decided to evaluate the slide in the morning when there was light. The okay was given to run the ferry all night at no charge. 6:10 p.m. A caller complained that ferry traffic was blocking the intersection at SR 409 and Sunny Sands on Puget Island. There were reports of problems at Westport, Ore., as well.

December 30 — 11:29 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with respiratory issues. 11:48 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having problems with her medical equipment. 8:18 p.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported that someone had thrown eggs at his car during the night. 8:23 p.m. A deputy spoke with campers who were allegedly throwing gas on campfires and being disrespectful at County Line Park. 10:47 p.m. A Puget Island resident was warned about burning illegal items.

December 31 — 12:38 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an unresponsive Puget Island resident. 8:10 a.m. An inmate at the county jail stole some breakfast items. 2:13 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 2:48 p.m. A driver was given a citation for having an open container of marijuana in his vehicle. 11:33 p.m. An alarm was activated at a church in Cathlamet. It turned out that there was an event being held there for New Years Eve.
