Sheriff's Report, February 8, 2018

 

February 8, 2018



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 29 — 9:41 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosburg resident. 12:47 p.m. An incident response vehicle was damaged and fuel was stolen at a county shop in the Elochoman Valley.

January 30 — 9:44 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an individual who had injured a knee in a fall at a Deep River home. 12:23 a.m. A deputy responded to a two vehicle accident on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. No injuries were reported. 12:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a patient with respiratory issues from the clinic in Cathlamet to a hospital. 3:57 p.m. On January 28, a caller had reported a diesel spill on Welcome Slough and after a deputy located the possible source, the Department of Ecology was notified. The boat owner was located and notified on January 28, and the DOE issued a notation of corrective action and left him some supplies to correct the situation.


January 31 — 6:15 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 3:30 p.m. A caller reported a panhandler causing a disturbance at a Rosedale business. At 4:51 p.m. it was reported that he would be put on a bus heading out of town. 5:02 p.m. An individual at a Puget Island home was taken into custody. 10:15 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a juvenile in Cathlamet took cough syrup and a methamphetamine.


February 1 — 7:11 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a one vehicle accident on SR 4 on the west side of KM. Injuries were reported. 11:10 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was sweaty and would not wake up. 12:52 p.m. A car and semi collided on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area; a deputy, the Cathlamet Fire Department, District 4 Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 3:14 p.m. A Rosedale resident was taken into custody. 7:19 p.m. A caller reported a dead raccoon on Main Street.


February 2 — 1:57 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with respiratory issues. 7:27 a.m. A caller reported that a horse was loose on Puget Island. The owner was notified. 10:46 a.m. A Skamokawa resident was concerned about a neighbor’s horse that had gotten caught in some wire on two occasions. The owner was contacted, and she removed the wire so it wouldn’t happen again. 11:37 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was sick and confused. 2:34 p.m. An individual at the high school in Cathlamet was taken into custody. 8:48 p.m. A Deep River resident complained about a busy fog horn.

February 3 — 12:33 a.m. A caller said that the person who was buying his van had been allowed to use it. The payment had been due on February 2, and the buyer and the van had not shown up. He was advised that it was a civil matter. 2:59 a.m. A tree was down and blocking one lane of SR 4 in Grays River. 3:01 a.m. A caller reported mud and debris on SR 4 in the Grays River area.

February 4 — 8:04 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosburg resident. 10:45 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Puget Island resident. 11:21 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen off a porch. 11:45 a.m. A second request came in for a welfare check on a Rosburg resident. 12:36 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that a family member had threatened to stab him. 7:38 p.m. A Greenwood Road resident heard a loud bang and saw two trucks stopped in the road. It turned out to be a traffic accident. A deputy responded and one individual was taken into custody after a field sobriety test. The Cathlamet ambulance responded. 8:18 p.m. A caller on Greenwood Road reported hearing a loud explosion. He said that one of the vehicles in the accident had gone through his yard, knocked over a mail box, and hit a transformer box, causing his power to go off. The PUD was notified.

February 5 — 2:35 a.m. The state patrol, Cathlamet ambulance, and Grays River Fire Department responded to a rollover accident on SR 4 on KM. The driver was intoxicated and taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
