Sheriff's Report, March 1, 2018

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

February 19--4:28 a.m. District 4 fire fighters responded to aid Cathlamet residents who couldn't open the door to the house because it had frozen shut. 7:30 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley residence where a man possibly had a stroke. 11:52 a.m. An officer cited a driver for speeding in Skamokawa. 3:29 p.m. A Cathlamet woman reported a man had violated a restraining order. 5:31 p.m. A woman reported someone had broken into her car and stolen a laptop and a guitar while the car was parked along Greenwood Road. 7:20 p.m. A caller reported a man was threatening to hurt himself; officers and a mental health professional responded.

February 20--12:08 p.m. A caller said a woman had been taking money from another woman's checking account. 3:52 p.m. Officers and the Skamokawa Fire Department responded to an accident in Skamokawa; a woman with back pain was taken to a hospital; snowy roads hampered responses. 6:03 p.m. A caller said people on quads pulling sleds were racing around the Glengate area in Cathlamet. 6:32 p.m. A caller said a disabled vehicle was possibly blocking SR 4 at Cape Horn. 7:21 p.m. A Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched to aid a woman with a bleeding problem.

February 21--A caller reported tree limbs were blocking SR4's westbound lane near the Cowlitz County line; the state patrol was advised. 10:36 a.m. A caller reported a truck had run into a utility pole and knocked down line along Columbia Street in Cathlamet; Wahkiakum PUD was advised. 1:13 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a woman who had fallen and couldn't get up. 5:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman who was very ill.

February 22--11:24 a.m. A motorist reported following another vehicle that was weaving along SR 4 and the Elochoman Valley Road; a deputy was advised. 1:18 p.m. A caller reported a car had been speeding up and down Deep River Road. 2:40 p.m. An officer responded to a two-vehicle collision on South Third Street in Cathlamet. 8:20 p.m. A man reported his daughter was receiving unwanted letters.

February 23--12:25 a.m. Officers and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the Elochoman Slough Marina where a caller reported hearing someone crying for help. A man was found in the water at 12:59 a.m., and responders started CPR; the man was taken by Lifeflight to a Longview hospital. 4:09 p.m. Grays River and Naselle firefighters responded to a house fire on Raistakka Road. 4:32 p.m. A caller reported a car had run off SR 4 near the Miller Point intersection; the state patrol responded. 10:01 p.m. A motorist reported a car had run off SR 4 just east of Skamokawa.

February 24--7:45 a.m. A motorist reported a small car was in a ditch along SR 4 on the west side of KM Mountain; the state patrol was advised. 10:43 a.m. A Middle Valley resident reported horses were loose and running up and down the road; the owners were notified. 2:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched to aid a Cathlamet man with breathing problems. 5:54 p.m. Officers were asked to watch for a possibly drunken man wanted for domestic violence in the Coal Creek area; a Wahkiakum deputy assisted a state patrol officer in stopping the man's car near Mill Creek. 7:52 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Pillar Rock Road residence to aid woman who had fallen.

February 25--4:22 a.m. A motorist reported seeing a woman wearing no shoes walking along SR 4 in the Rosedale area and asking for a ride; the caller also reported a pickup was going up and down the highway and he thought it might be a domestic violence situation; an officer was unable to locate the woman. 1:44 p.m. An officer cited a motorist for speeding in Skamokawa. 9:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a youth having a seizure.
