Fair Foundation update offered

March 22, 2018

To The Eagle:

There still seems to be some confusion as to the difference between the Fair Foundation and the County Fair Board. The Foundation is a non-profit organization formed by volunteers to support use of the fairgrounds and raise funds for projects at the grounds not covered by the fair budget. The Foundation is not affiliated with county government. The Fair Board is also comprised of volunteers who are appointed by the county commissioners to guide the fair manager in maintenance of the fairgrounds and coordination of the county fair. They are under the management of the county commissioners.

The Fair Foundation is starting off the new year with exciting news. We are hosting the Challenge of Champions Professional Bull Riding Exhibition on July 20; the Friday before Bald Eagle Day. Our challenge is to raise the promotional fee needed to bring this event to Wahkiakum County. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for this event, please contact Jean Beerbower or Lore Twiet for information. Tickets will go on sale soon.

We also have been holding dinners, silent auctions and bake sales to help meet our goal. Our next big event will be on March 31. Come join us for lunch at the fairgrounds after the Lions Club egg hunt at Skamokawa Vista Park. We will also have a silent auction, bake sale, kids carnival and early evening egg hunt for all ages; including teens and adults.

The Foundation thanks everyone for supporting us with our effort to bring this special event to our community.
