Heidi Bruntmyer gets ready to tee off at Skyline Golf Course on Tuesday in the first golf match of the season. Bruntmyer hit a 54 for the day.

The top three Mules finished first, second and third in a four-school, 21 player event at Skyline Golf Course in Cathlamet on Tuesday.

Team scores were Wahkiakum 161, Life Christian Academy 214, Adna 229, and Three Rivers Christian 229.

Led by co-captains senior Bryce Good's 36 metal round and sophomore Tyler St. Onge's 37, the Wahkiakum Mules Golf Team kicked off 2018 by eclipsing the school nine-hole match record of 164 held by the class of 2013 by three strokes shooting a four-ball record of 161.

I'm excited about the depth of this team. We have six guys that can shoot in the 40's and that's what it takes to win nine-hole matches.

They shot 167 the first day of varsity qualifying and then all six golfers shot in the 40's on day two. Our co-captains brought their A games today (Tuesday), however the other four guys have scored better, so I'm confident they can shave four or five more strokes off of today's total.

Junior Zach Johnston shot 41 for third, Freshman Logan LaBerge 47 tied for 6th and Freshman Kaden Anderson 50 while sophomore Elijah Doiron shot 51. Heidi Bruntmeyer was the only lady player and shot 54.

The next match will be at Three Rivers Golf Course on March 28 versus Adna and Three Rivers Christian.

Way to picture a strong female in your picture, but you repeatedly mention 'guys' in the article. It's a team, not gender specific.
