Four works created by Wahkiakum High School art students were selected to join an exhibition in the 2018 ESD 112 Regional High School Art Competition Exhibit. The event is in its 45th year.

Freshman Hannah Musick and sophomore Zak Kennedy's compositions were done in repousse, a kind of metalwork where the design is created using a hammer on the back of a piece.

Senior Morgan Bashore used acrylics to paint a scene from halftime at the homecoming game.

Sophomore Shelby Bond "charmed the judges with her 'Mother Dragon' papier mache sculpture," according to WHS art teacher Sue Garn. Out of 239 entries in the exhibition, Bond was selected as one of 17 students to receive a regional award and advance to the OSPI State Superintendent's High School Art Exhibition and Competition in Olympia in May.

The students learned about repousse, papier mache, and acrylics last fall.
