PUD manager reports on outages, tree trimming

April 19, 2018

General Manager Dave Tramblie gave an update on Wahkiakum County PUD business and fielded questions about transformers, bushings and more at a quick Board of Commissioner’s meeting on Tuesday morning.

First, Tramblie mentioned that he had obtained a form for a water rights pre-application consultation, based on some information provided by Commissioner Dennis Reid at a previous meeting.

“I’ll send this application in, they’ll contact me,” Tramblie said, “and then we’ll sit down and have a discussion about what our proposal might be.”

There is no cost for the pre-application.

The commissioners encouraged him to move forward.

Tramblie gave an update on the Skamokawa water system, noting that he had heard from a Westside Water shareholder that they were working on the proposal from the PUD.

Tramblie listed and described a few recent outages.

“Not too bad for two months,” he said.

“Outages due to foliage and limbs are conspicuously absent from that bunch, aren’t they,” Commissioner Gene Healy commented. “It’s a tribute to your work.”

“It’s a tribute to the guys and their tree trimming efforts,” Tramblie said. “We have a permit from the Department of Transportation right now that allows us to do tree trimming along the highway until the end of May.”

Auditor Erin Wilson will be working on financial policies for the PUD after attending a recent webinar.

“It makes my job easier if we have a policy to refer to,” she said.

The quick pay option is coming to the PUD, but the company that provides the service has said it will be delayed while it makes some changes, according to Wilson.

Finally, Tramblie said that they were considering putting in an underground circuit in the area where the culvert had been replaced along SR 4 at the Elochoman River bridge. The overhead circuit is almost always under water, Tramblie noted.
