Veteran is running for office of auditor

To The Eagle:

My Name is Matt Kuhl and I am running for Wahkiakum County Auditor. To your readers, I would like to share a bit about myself.

Growing up in Cathlamet, I developed personal qualities only a small town can teach: selflessness, hard work, respect, caring for your neighbors, kindness, honesty, and much more.

My whole life I have felt a need to help others. After graduating from Wahkiakum High School, I joined the US Army as a Cavalry Scout serving honorably for five years, deploying twice to Iraq and earning multiple Army Accommodation Medals, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Combat Action Badge. As a veteran, I will bring leadership skills and values to the Wahkiakum County Auditor’s office that very few can offer.

After the Army I dedicated myself to my education, attending Washington State University and graduating with a degree in accounting. After working in the private industry as an accountant, I moved back to Cathlamet. I currently work as a public accountant for Futcher Group, CPAs in Kelso, WA., helping local businesses and individuals with their taxes, bookkeeping, payroll, financial statements, and more. As a trained accountant, I will bring the required qualifications and skills to properly handle each duty of county auditor with integrity and professionalism.

Within the community, I am a volunteer treasurer for the Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce and an Executive Board Member. I serve on both the finance and budget committee and manage their daily accounting. My time with the Chamber, meeting local residents, has shown me that Wahkiakum wants qualified leaders in its public office. As your auditor, I will continue to help you grow and prosper.

Serving as your county auditor would be an honor. Thank you for your consideration in voting for me.

Matthew J. Kuhl
