Sheriff's Report, June 21, 2018

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 11 — 7:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Puget Island resident with a history of heart problems. 9:37 a.m. A caller reported that a tree had fallen on a Grays River road. 3:54 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 8:06 p.m. A caller reported a brush fire on Puget Island. A deputy and the Puget Island Fire Department responded. It turned out to be a controlled burn. 9:54 p.m. A caller reported that a parent had violated a parenting plan.

June 12 — 8:31 a.m. A caller reported that a family member had attempted an overdose at a Skamokawa home. The mental health department was notified. 11:51 a.m. A caller reported that he had spoken with a couple people who appeared to be squatting on a boat and had been fishing at the city dock for a couple days. The caller was then advised to speak to the town attorney about a raft that looked like it had been abandoned at the city dock. 1:19 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported the theft of fuel. 2:37 p.m. A witness had allegedly been intimidated in a case being tried at the Wahkiakum County Courthouse. 8:24 p.m. A caller reported an overdose at a Cathlamet residence. A deputy, a mental health representative, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded.


June 13 — 6:47 a.m. A power outage was reported on Puget Island. The Puget Island Fire Department and the PUD were notified. 9:07 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported a suspicious juvenile who would come out in the evening for a walk. Each night, the youth was getting closer to the caller’s home, possibly, the caller believed, to bother her dog. 9:19 a.m. A caller reported that someone had caused damage in an attempt to break into his Elochoman Valley home. 10:33 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained about spraying done without permission on her property. 3:50 p.m. A caller reported that an individual had violated a protection order by parking a half mile from her home. A deputy investigated and was unable to locate the subject. 5:09 p.m. A Skamokawa resident was cited after livestock got loose and were on a neighboring property. 6:26 p.m. The Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office was asked to be on the lookout for a missing Columbia County resident. 11:04 p.m. A deputy was asked to assist state patrol during a traffic stop in the Deep River area. An individual was taken into custody.


June 14 — 10:54 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen in her driveway. 12:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 1:10 p.m. A political sign had been vandalized near County Line Park. 2:30 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 8:16 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a neighbor’s pit bull had killed his cat. No one had witnessed the event, though the dog had blood on its mouth. It was determined that there was not enough evidence to call the dog potentially dangerous. 9:16 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man who appeared to be homeless. 11:27 p.m. A caller reported a large porcupine in the westbound lane of SR 4 near Flandersville.


June 15 — 7:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 8:55 a.m. A Grays River resident believed she had been the victim of a scam. 10:12 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having trouble breathing. 1:38 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that he was being harassed by a former contractor. 2:02 p.m. A caller reported that a dog in the Rosedale area that was supposed to be quarantined was running loose. 7:05 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was concerned that he was seeing and hearing things that were not there. 11:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget island resident who had fallen.

June 16 — An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. 9:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Alger Creek resident complaining of weakness on one side. 10:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was feeling dizzy. 12:14 p.m. A driver was cited for not having insurance. 12:52 p.m. A caller complained about speeding vehicles in the Skamokawa area. 1:10 p.m. Three motorcyclists were cited for speed in the Skamokawa area. 2:46 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that a motor home had been abandoned on his property. 3:22 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 4:29 p.m. A driver was cited for driving with a suspended license.


June 17 — 2:49 a.m. A deputy responded to the report of a one vehicle accident. The car had been abandoned in a ditch near Nassa Point. 8:02 p.m. A caller reported two calves who had gotten out of their pasture in the Elochoman Valley area. The owner was contacted. 9:19 p.m. Security for a timber company reported an abandoned boat and asked that it be removed from the property. They were informed that law enforcement could not tow the boat off of private property. 11:52 a.m. A driver was cited for not wearing a seatbelt. 11:56 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an unresponsive Elochoman Valley resident. 12:18 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 12:32 p.m. A caller reported a burglary at an Elochoman Valley home. 12:39 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 1:34 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 2:32 p.m. A driver was cited for speed and for not having insurance. 2:51 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 2:51 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 3:08 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 3:13 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 3:25 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 3:39 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 4:12 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 4:19 p.m. Two individuals were taken into custody on warrants during a vehicle stop in Rosedale. 5:24 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 6:07 p.m. Deputies and state patrol responded when an individual was threatened and assaulted by an intoxicated man who had shown up at his Deep River home. When the suspect left to get a gun, officers searched for but did not find him at a nearby residence. A K-9 unit was requested from Pacific County and the man was taken into custody at 7:43 p.m. 7:55 p.m. A welfare check was requested for hungry children at a Cathlamet home. 8:48 p.m. An inmate at the county jail had credit cards that did not belong to him.


June 18 — 4:28 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen.
