Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 9 — 11:36 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who had fallen. 3:37 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale address. 9:52 p.m. Two adults and three children got lost while hiking on a trail near Vista Park in Cathlamet. A deputy responded and located the party.

July 10 — 8:12 a.m. The Grays River Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a Puget Island resident’s knee went out in the loft of a barn. 2:32 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 9:29 p.m. A deputy was requested to secure a meeting room in Cathlamet after it was found unlocked.

July 11 — 12:20 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Rosedale home. 6:38 p.m. A caller was concerned about a girl who appeared to be upset and walking without shoes along SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. According to the caller, a man was following the girl. 6:58 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Cathlamet. It turned out to be a false alarm. 8:44 p.m. The sheriff’s office was notified that the ferry was down. The ferry was repaired and back in service by 6:00 a.m. 9:38 p.m. A caller asked for help rescuing a cat who had gotten stuck on top of a pipe at the Beaver Creek fish hatchery. A deputy responded but was unable to get to the cat. 11:31 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Skamokawa resident. Deputies were unable to locate the individual.

July 12 — 6:15 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 6:20 p.m. A caller was concerned about a kiteboarder who had gone down. No one appeared to be in distress so all units were called off. 8:30 p.m. A caller reported that he had found some keys on Puget Island. A deputy returned the keys to their owner.

July 13 — 10:29 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a youth in Cathlamet after a knee injury. 10:39 a.m. A campaign sign was vandalized in Cathlamet. 12:03 p.m. A driver’s license and a credit card were found. The owner was notified. 1:39 p.m. A caller reported speeding vehicles in Skamokawa. 3:41 p.m. A caller reported that a subject of a restraining order had chased her husband on Beaver Creek Road and tried to ram his vehicle. 4:36 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosburg resident. A deputy made contact and determined that the person was okay. 5:05 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had fallen. 5:12 p.m. An individual who had called two days earlier to ask for help rescuing a cat trapped on a pipe at a hatchery called again to ask for help. 9:19 p.m. A caller reported that a nine year old had been left alone at home. 9:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was vomiting blood. 10 p.m. A caller was concerned that people were going to start a fire at Bradley Trails.

July 14 — 4:13 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island address. 10:48 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual who had cut his arm. 1:09 p.m. A caller reported an injured or ailing bald eagle in Rosburg. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 1:13 p.m. A caller reported that dogs had been left in the cab of a truck for hours at a neighboring Puget Island home. A deputy made contact and the responsible party was advised about felony animal cruelty. 6:01 p.m. An alarm was activated at an east county home. 6:14 p.m. A caller reported that kids were climbing and diving off a channel marker in the Columbia River on the western end of Puget Island. The Coast Guard was advised. 8:44 p.m. A vehicle was abandoned and blocking a Rosedale road. 9:19 p.m. A caller reported that a tree was leaning against a guard rail on SR 4 east of County Line Park.

July 15 — 7:54 a.m. A Deep River resident reported the theft of several items from his boat. 11:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual with an unknown problem in the Rosedale area. 11:43 a.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to a small brush fire on Puget Island. Someone reported that the homeowner had not known about the burn ban and was putting out the fire. 11:58 a.m. A caller reported that her husband had found a canoe that had sunk and was buried in the silt in Grays River. 12:13 p.m. A caller reported a lost phone. 3:53 p.m. A caller reported that a man was screaming at a Cathlamet park. A deputy investigated and found out the man had had a fight with his girlfriend. The deputy failed to locate the couple.

July 16 — 7:39 a.m. A caller reported that someone was causing a disturbance in Rosedale. 8:01 a.m. Three large dogs were seen on SR 4 in the Rosburg area. 8:33 a.m. A bicyclist was chased by a large dog on a Puget Island road. A deputy spoke with the individual who said it was the second time he had been chased by the dog in the last two weeks. The deputy said he would speak with the owners.
