The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a citizen dispute on US 101 near Elkhorn Creek on the afternoon of July 26. At approximately 2:50 p.m., Deputy Jon Ashley reported an individual known to be a wanted felon had fled from the residence. Deputy Ashely immediately called for additional units. Detective Ryan Tully, Deputy Randy Wiegardt and his K-9 partner Ciko, and Sheriff Scott Johnson responded to the scene.

The suspect was pursued for about 90 minutes through heavy underbrush, the woods and into Elkhorn Creek and the surrounding very muddy/swampy area around the creek. K-9 Ciko was able to hold the suspect under the Elkhorn Creek Bridge on US 101 until Deputies Ashley, Wiegardt and Tully placed handcuffs on the individual and took him into custody.

“I am extremely proud of the teamwork displayed by our north crew deputies in the arrest of a wanted felon in the Elkhorn flats,” said Pacific County Sheriff Scott Johnson. “Yet another successful arrest by our crew. You can run, but you can't hide from our team.” The suspect was booked into the Pacific County Jail.
