Sports calendar this coming week for the Naselle Comet teams: Friday, high school football in Naselle with Darrington at 6 p.m .; Saturday, high school volleyball at the Raymond Tourney at 9 a.m .; Monday, high school volleyball in Naselle with CAA at 4:30 p.m., and middle school volleyball with Ocosta at 5:45 p.m .; Tuesday, middle school football in Naselle with Vernonia at 4 p.m., and high school volleyball at WSD at 6 p.m .; Wednesday, middle school volleyball in Naselle with South Bend at 5:45 p.m. Go Comets!

The Comet Booster Club meeting will take place this evening (Thursday) at 6 p.m. in the Naselle School Commons.

“Enchanted April” tickets are now available for the latest production by PAPA (Peninsula Association for Performing Arts) Showtimes are October 5, 6,12 at 7 p.m., and October 7 and 14 at 2 p.m., in the Columbia Theater in Chinook.

The Play and Learn Play Group for parents and children ages 0-5 will begin meeting on Fridays starting this Friday at the Valley Bible Church in Rosburg. The group is sponsored by St. James Family Center in Cathlamet and is not affiliated with the Valley Bible Church. If you have children in that age group, you are welcome to come and enjoy a fun time for your child to interact and learn as they play with other children at no charge. Moms, dads and caregivers can enjoy a time of observing, sharing and visiting. A healthy snack is served and a relevant topic is discussed at intervals during the program, along with a kids craft. Please join Becky from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. each week. For more information call the facilitator, Becky Erickson at 465-2555.

Check out the Farmer’s Market at the Grays River Grange #124 on Tuesdays. They are open 2-6 p.m., and you can purchase delicious produce and baked goods for great prices. Locally grown goodness.

The Grays River Grange #124 will once again host a candidates forum for the upcoming election, and it will be held in the Grange Hall in downtown Grays River on October 9 at 6 p.m. Come and meet the candidates, hear them speak and answer your questions and most important of all--vote.

The 11th Annual Covered Bridge Dinner is not far away and will take place on October 6 at 4:30 p.m., inside the Grays River Covered Bridge. Get your tickets soon as there are a limited number available.

Regular admission tickets can be purchased for $35 and Grand American (all veterans and seniors 72 and older) tickets are $25 and are available at the Bank of the Pacific in Cathlamet and Naselle or at the WSU Extension Office on River Street in Cathlamet.

Join the African Children’s Choir as they perform at the Valley Bible Church. Help support this ministry on October 8 at 7 p.m., during their North American Tour.

The West End Food Pantry is located in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park (old Rosburg School) and is open on Thursdays 1-5 p.m.
