Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

September 17 — 4:26 a.m. An alarm was activated at an Alger Creek address. A deputy checked the home and found everything secure. 9:43 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a child that had missed school for five days. A deputy learned that the youth had been taken to Pacific County. 12:06 p.m. A victim of fraud reported that money had been stolen from his bank account. 3:06 p.m. A caller was concerned about a visibly upset woman seen walking near the east entrance to the refuge. The woman told the caller that her boyfriend had thrown all of her belongings onto the street, but when contacted by a deputy, the woman said nothing was wrong and she was just out for a walk. The boyfriend’s sister contacted the deputy and said that he had told her he had been beaten up by the woman. 4:50 p.m. A caller reported tire fragments in the roadway on SR 4 in the Deep River area. 5:35 p.m. A deputy was unable to locate a bonfire reported in the Rosedale area.

September 18 — 10:01 a.m. Tools and more were stolen from a barn in Rosburg. 12:08 p.m. A caller reported a speeding driver in Deep River. 3:09 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who may have suffered a stroke. 5:38 p.m. The Grays River ambulance transported an ailing Grays River resident to the hospital.

September 19 — 8:50 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who was unconscious and not breathing well. 9:03 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 9:11 a.m. A dispute was reported at a Deep River home. 9:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient who’d had a seizure to the hospital. 2:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient who was having respiratory issues to the hospital. 3:43 p.m. A deputy, the Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident in the Deep River area. 6:26 p.m. A mushroom hunter went missing in the Beaver Creek area. Deputies, state patrol, search and rescue, and Coast Guard responded. She was found the next morning, cold and hungry, by a hunter. 8:37 a.m. A pregnant woman was chased by an aggressive dog in the Rosedale area.

September 20 — 7:26 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident complaining of pain. 11:13 a.m. A suspicious backpack was found leaning against a house in the Elochoman Valley. 12:34 p.m. A Skamokawa resident wanted to press charges against his neighbor for trespassing. 1:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who had fallen. 1:50 p.m. Drug paraphernalia was found in a shower at the marina. 2:53 p.m. A boat battery was stolen from a home in the Elochoman Valley. 7:00 p.m. A caller reported two aggressive dogs on West Sunny Sands Road on Puget Island. 8:10 p.m. Someone was yelling near Crown Camp Road in the Elochoman Valley, according to a caller.

September 21 — 2:36 p.m. The sheriff’s office was asked to be on the lookout for a man with health issues who had not returned home after a lodge meeting. He was found in Cowlitz County around 3:30 a.m. 11:17 a.m. A dispute was reported at the marina and a deputy was requested. 1:46 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a missing dog. 7:56 p.m. A driver reported that he had struck two deer near County Line Park. A tow truck was called. 8:07 p.m. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified after lights were seen on the Elochoman River.

September 22 — 9:59 a.m. An individual who wanted to press charges on his neighbor for trespassing reported that he had received a harassing letter. 10:37 a.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about a neighbor’s dog, which had been left outside to bark and whine all night. 1:00 p.m. A tree was down on Beaver Creek Road. 3:53 p.m. A caller reported animal neglect and filthy living conditions at a home on East Valley Road in Skamokawa. 10:11 a.m. A woman reported that she had felt threatened by her boyfriend and had gotten out of his car at a business in Cathlamet. She asked deputies to get her dog from the man.

September 23 — 11:18 a.m. A landlord asked to speak with a deputy regarding a tenant at an Alger Creek home. 3:02 p.m. Smoke was seen in the Deep River area. The Grays River Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources responded but returned to a nearby fire hall when a man in Deep River brandished a weapon. Officers responded. 9:26 p.m. A renter in the Elochoman Valley reported that his landlord kept turning his power off. He was advised that it was a civil issue.
