Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 8 — 9:42 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department and the Grays River Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a Deep River address. All units were told to stand down when it turned out to be a false alarm. 10:37 a.m. A credit card was missing and had been used after a burglary at a Rosburg church. 12:26 p.m. A disabled Rosedale resident asked for assistance after a neighbor parked on the sidewalk, blocking the path to the nearby bus stop. A deputy notified the manager at Indian Village. 1:23 p.m. An argument was reported in a Cathlamet parking lot. 3:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a Skamokawa resident who had suffered a stroke to the hospital. 4:22 p.m. A branch had fallen onto one lane of SR 4 just west of County Line Park.


October 9 — 11:04 a.m. Fraudulent activity was reported at a bank. 11:27 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 12:21 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an Elochoman Valley home after a welfare check was done. 4:39 p.m. A man said he had been threatened while pumping diesel at a Rosedale business. 6:59 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that she was being harassed by a neighbor.

October 10 — 12:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 7:14 a.m. The sheriff’s office was asked to assist in locating a mushroom picker who had gotten lost in Cowlitz County. 7:51 a.m. A Cathlamet resident said she had been threatened. 8:13 a.m. A caller reported a theft from an Elochoman Valley home. 11:36 a.m. A shoplifter was caught on camera at a Cathlamet business. 3:03 p.m. An injured dog was seen wandering near a Rosedale business. 3:52 p.m. A caller reported that he had hit a dog that had been chasing his vehicle on a Puget Island road. 8:39 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosedale resident whose phone had been off the hook for more than a day. A deputy tried to call and got a busy signal. Someone checked on her and she was fine. 8:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was complaining of tightness in his throat and back. 11:06 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after an assault in Cathlamet.


October 11 — 9:29 a.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported that someone was opening accounts in his name. He was advised to contact the credit card company and credit bureaus. 9:51 a.m. A caller reported that she was being threatened by an ex-boyfriend and his friends. 3:59 p.m. A caller reported a possibly troubled woman sitting on the bridge at Beaver Creek. 4:01 p.m. A caller reported hat he had been charged by a pit bull and a Rottweiler while bicycling on West Sunny Sands on Puget Island. 6:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a youth hit his head during a football game in Cathlamet. Life Flight responded. 7:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen.


October 12 — 9:25 a.m. A door was found open at a vacant home on Puget Island. 10:49 a.m. A caller reported possible poachers after shots were fired from a vehicle in the Elochoman Valley. 11:30 a.m. A vehicle had been hit while parked in a Cathlamet parking lot. 4:10 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when an individual collapsed while checking his mail in the Elochoman Valley. 5:31 p.m. A driver who had been seen driving erratically on SR 4 was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test. 8:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having trouble walking. 9:19 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to a home on West Sunny Sands for a brush fire. The homeowner extinguished what turned out to be an illegal burn.

October 13 — 1:28 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of an overdose at an Elochoman Valley home. 7:52 a.m. A possible burglary was reported at the KM transfer station. 9:44 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business. It was accidentally activated by a cleaning crew. A responsible person was contacted and able to reset the alarm. 12:43 p.m. A caller reported that a truck was dragging a chain while heading west on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley. 1:01 p.m. A caller reported that a Rottweiler charged them while they were walking on West Sunny Sands on Puget Island. 6:18 p.m. A caller reported that he and his wife had been charged by a Rottweiler and pit bull on West Sunny Sands while walking to the ferry. A deputy tried to make contact with the owner.

October 14 — 10:10 a.m. A caller reported that a tree had fallen on a power line near his home. It had not caused a power outage and he asked that the PUD deal with it on Monday. The PUD was notified. 1:19 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to a brush fire in Deep River. The fire was out by 1:58 p.m. 3:04 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4. 10:05 p.m. An inmate threatened another inmate at the county jail.

October 15 — 4:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had been stung by a bee and was having an allergic reaction.
