Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 3 — 10:37 a.m. An individual allegedly threatened to harm a former co-worker and detonate a pipe bomb in a building belonging to his one-time employer in the Rosedale area. 12:02 p.m. A Skamokawa landlord reported that a former tenant had taken a propane tank without permission. The tenant returned the property after he was confronted. 12:10 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about two aggressive dogs that were constantly running loose. 3:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual in Cathlamet with high blood pressure. 4:37 p.m. An individual spoke to someone at the sheriff’s office about getting a protection order. 6:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had hurt her leg in a fall. 9:55 p.m. A theft was reported at a Skamokawa home.

December 4 — 7:25 a.m. A one vehicle accident was reported in the Elochoman Valley. There were no injuries. 9:05 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an individual after his winter coat was found in a garbage can. The individual was located. 1:44 p.m. A deputy responded when a medical alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. It turned out to be a false alarm. 2:56 p.m. A caller reported that a burglary was in progress at a Deep River home. 5:25 p.m. A storage unit on Beaver Creek belonging to the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife was burglarized sometime between November 28 and December 3. The lock had been cut and three motion sensor lights were missing. 5:31 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a depressed Puget Island resident. A deputy made contact. 10:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident.

December 5 — 3:32 a.m. A caller reported seeing people sleeping in a car in the marina parking lot for the last three nights. 5:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was having difficulty breathing. Lifeflight was activated. 8:02 a.m. A Deep River resident reported that a neighbor’s dog had killed his dog. 12:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a youth who had hit her head while playing on Cathlamet school grounds. 1:58 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Deep River home. 1:59 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that his boat had been vandalized and lumber had been stolen from his property. 5 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver in Skamokawa. State patrol was notified. 7:53 p.m. A Cathlamet resident said that a vehicle had struck his mailbox. 9:08 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to a smoke alarm at a Rosburg address. There was no sign of a fire, and a member of the department replaced the batteries in the smoke detectors.

December 6 — 10:26 a.m. A caller in Skamokawa reported that an individual had been asked to leave and would not. 6 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained about someone who had repeatedly showed up at his home trying solicit siding and roofing work. 8:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen.

December 7 — 12:45 a.m. Deputies investigated when a child was reported missing by her grandmother in Cathlamet. They learned that the child was at home with her mother, who in turn was concerned that the grandmother might be confused due to a change in medications. The family agreed to monitor the woman through the night. 12:10 a.m. A welfare check was requested for an Elochoman Valley resident. 1:07 p.m. Two shotguns were found on the side of the refuge road. 1:56 p.m. A Cathlamet restaurant requested assistance after an inebriated patron became belligerent. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 2:13 p.m. A caller from a Cathlamet school asked to speak to a deputy about possible harassment. 4:23 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a couple in the Elochoman Valley. 5:26 p.m. A caller reported a dead deer on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 7:01 p.m. A caller reported that a restraining order had been violated. 11:45 p.m. Deputies and state patrol responded when a caller reported hearing screaming after several shots were fired in Skamokawa. State patrol reported that all was clear. 11:55 p.m. A caller reported a reckless driver speeding and doing cookies in the Skamokawa area.

December 8 — 9:09 a.m. A caller reported possible abuse of a dependent adult in Grays River. 9:37 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident. The individual refused transport. 10:27 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle with flashers on, parked near the fog line on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. State patrol was notified. 2:15 p.m. A caller reported that a truck was blocking a Cathlamet street. 5:01 p.m. A caller reported that a deer had been struck on Beaver Creek Road. It was still alive and its fawns were nearby. 7:20 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a man had stopped by and was acting strangely. Deputies and the mental health department responded. 8:04 p.m. A caller reported a man in dark clothing was hitchhiking on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. He had almost been struck by several vehicles. 8:35 p.m. A caller reported that another vehicle hit black ice and slid into a guard rail on SR 4 near Nassa Point. People had stopped to assist. A deputy was unable to locate the vehicle.

December 9 — 2:08 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious man with a flashlight in the Rosedale area. 3:45 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Puget Island resident. 4 a.m. A caller reported a tree hanging down on Elochoman Valley Road near Kents Bridge. The county road department was notified. 11:50 a.m. Dogs were running loose on a Puget Island road. 5:31 p.m. A caller reported seeing someone throw a dog out of their vehicle on an Elochoman Valley Road. The caller said the dog was not able to move its back legs. 5:32 p.m. Several agencies, including search and rescue, were activated when a hunter sent a text to his wife asking for help. His wife did not know where he was, and several areas including the Elochoman Valley, Bradley Trails, and Brookfield were searched. The hunter was said to be headed home after being located at 7:47 p.m. 8:28 p.m. A caller reported that several items had been stolen from her Elochoman Valley home.
