The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

The Wahkiakum County Museum has installed a new ductless heating and cooling system with air conditioner/heat pump units and a WiFi control module. The new system will not only provide improved comfort for visitors and staff, but also produce drier airflow than the old propane system, aiding in the constant battle against humidity, which can damage many of the items on display, particularly cloth and paper.

The units were donated by Linda Wright and Frans and Mieke Eykel, and installed by volunteer labor using money from several donors who have asked to remain anonymous. The museum is operated by the Wahkiakum County Historical Society, and is currently closed for the winter, but visits can be arranged by contacting the curator, Kari Kandoll, 360-849-4353 or Judy Brawn, 360-562-1925. In May, the museum will resume its normal operating hours: noon to 4 p.m., on weekends.
