Coming Events--Community Center in Cathlamet

February 28, 2019

Lots to do these coming weeks here in town. Book Clubbers and ‘want to be’ book clubbers, you still have time to read “The 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared” by Jonas Jonasson before Friday, March 8th. It’s about an old guy who is desperate to avoid his 100th birthday party. The book isn’t the least bit dull, packed with lots of history, a very enjoyable read. The group gets together every second Friday at 11, if you’d like to join in.

Next Thursday, March 7th is the second meeting in regard to the School Summer Lunch Program. Volunteers and organizers are encouraged to join. The support and help of the community can help create a prosperous program, making sure that all kids are being considered during the summer break. The meeting starts at 1 p.m., if you are interested in getting involved you should make time to come by.

Gardeners and plant lovers please remember to join us Saturday March 9th at the Free Seed Exchange. The community center will be open at 10 a.m., to anyone who wants to come and join in. Master Gardeners will be on site to answer questions and provide insight on your green space.

Beginning March 6th Rochelle Cothren, a representative from health care authority, will be based here at the community center 10-12 p.m., to assist folks with questions and applications for health care.

Wednesday March 13th, 11-1 p.m., the Emergency Support Shelter’s Crime Victim Advocacy Program (CVAP) is hosting a free presentation on commercial sexual exploitation, child abuse and vulnerable adult abuse. While it isn’t something that most people find ways to talk about, this conversation is a really important one to have and we look forward to hosting this. You can call the community center if you have any questions pertaining to this presentation.

Wood carving with Walt is also another exciting way to whittle away the winter, every Tuesday @ 6 p.m. In other news, Cribbage at the CC has been a big hit, if you’d like in on the fun, come on by Wednesdays at 7 p.m. “It’s more fun when you’re not the only one having it.” Have a great weekend, Wahkiakum!
