March 2019 Wahkiakum Horse Gaming Series update

March 14, 2019

Only 2 months to go until the first gaming show of the series, May 11. Gates open for warm up at 8 a.m. Registration available at 8 a.m. First event starts at 10 a.m.

I'd like to thank our sponsors: Troy and Corrine Slobig for donating the series high point buckles, again. They are for 12-18 yrs. old age group and the 19-35 yrs. old age group. New sponsor Rob Dixion, of Dixion Quarter Horse Ranch for the travel/gaming box. High point prize winner of the Novice group. Brim's Farm and Garden will also be joining as a series sponsor this year.

I would like to say "Thank You" to our sponsors for their support. Their sponsorship has helped us to grow to a 5 game series.

Some questions I received in February were:

1. How do I know what age group/division should I ride in?

We go by your age as of January 1st. If you or your horse is new to gaming, you should probably be riding in the novice division. If you are not sure, you can ask us when you register.

2. Will there be daily prizes again this year?

Yes, we will be giving out daily prizes in each age group/division, to 4th place.

There will also be a daily High Point prize. So even if you can't ride in 4 out of 5 shows to qualify for the series high point, there are still great prizes to be won.

We are still working on improving the footing in the arena. I would like to take this time to thank Mike Doan, and his crew from Long Beach for all their time and effort spent improving the footing. Mike will be back again to work on the area footing. It is volunteers like Mike that make this show a go.

More screened dirt is needed for the arena. if there are any businesses or individuals out there that would like to help make this happen, please contact me at sheepmilksoap@gmail.com or call me at 509-679-6049.

I will be sending out entry forms and news letters in April, to all our riders from last year. If you have a change of address or are new to the series, please send me your name and address to sheepmilksoap@gmail.com.

Come out and ride. Our show series is a great place to school your gaming horse. It is a lot of fun and a great place to make new friends. If it is raining, no problem, we have a large covered arena. This allows you and your horse to stand under cover, while waiting for your next event.

If you do not ride, come out and support the riders. It is free and fun to watch. You probably know some of the riders. Lunch will be available to purchase.

For more information, contact me at sheepmilksoap@gmail.com or call 509-697-6049.
