Sheriff's Report, April 11, 2019

 

April 11, 2019



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 1 – 9:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported an east county resident to the hospital. 12:16 p.m. A caller reported that he would return to pick up his vehicle after it broke down on a Puget Island road. 12:31 p.m. A caller found a cash drawer along SR 4 near Nassa Point. A deputy was able to determine that the owner was from Pacific County and contacted the sheriff’s office there. The PCSD said there had been no reports of thefts or robberies of cash drawers since January, 2017. 12:43 p.m. A caller reported a black car flashing red and blue lights on the Puget Island bridge. The bridge crew leader was contacted.

April 2 – 9:08 a.m. A door was found open at a vacant Cathlamet business. 9:59 p.m. A caller said he was headed to a church in Cathlamet after receiving information that there had been a disturbance. A deputy found everything secure.

April 3 – 7:54 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 11:26 a.m. A caller asked for assistance in retrieving her dog from a trainer who was unwilling to let it go. 11:46 a.m. A caller reported that a Cathlamet resident was taking off his clothes and talking to imaginary people. A deputy detained the man while they waited for a representative from mental health to arrive. 12:37 p.m. A caller reported that two people in a truck were opening mail boxes on Risk Road. A deputy made contact with the two. They were painters leaving flyers in mail boxes to advertise their business. 2:10 p.m. A caller reported a disturbance at a Cathlamet residence. 2:41 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on a Puget Island road. 3:55 p.m. A caller reported that he had been assaulted. He alleged that his attacker had struck him over the head with a cane and then tried to stab him with the broken cane. 4:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual who had gotten stuck between two beds. 8:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident.

April 4 – 12:05 a.m. A caller was concerned about a vehicle parked on the Puget Island bridge. A deputy responded and found a second vehicle there; they were trying to jump start the first car. 12:49 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported hearing shots fired. 7:03 p.m. A caller reported that a driver was doing cookies and honking his horn in the Skamokawa Fire Hall parking lot. 9:11 a.m. An inebriated man entered the courthouse. His vehicle was found in the parking lot with the engine running. The keys were removed and he was informed that his girlfriend would have to come and pick them up. 10:21 a.m. A small child was seen walking alone on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. He was pulling a wagon. 10:23 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a small child walking on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 11:10 a.m. A Skamokawa resident was concerned that a neighbor’s dogs were being neglected. 12:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident complaining of arm numbness and chest pain. 3:49 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a former renter was trespassing. A deputy made contact with both parties. 5:08 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient who was hallucinating to the hospital.

April 5 – 1:57 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 4:08 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on someone who said he was in Cathlamet and had threatened to harm himself online. 1:22 p.m. A caller reported that a woman had approached her in a Cathlamet park and screamed profanities at her and her children. A deputy made contact with the subject. 8:14 p.m. A caller reported that her goats and chickens had been attacked at a Puget Island residence. A missing goat was found deceased in the slough.

April 6 – 7:49 a.m. A caller reported that a branch was blocking a lane of traffic on SR 4 on Abe Creek Hill. 1:12 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosedale resident who had recently fallen. The individual had injured his arm and his hand was swollen. The Cathlamet ambulance responded. 2:32 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that there was evidence that a driver had recently struck her fence and damaged her garden. 2:45 p.m. A Rosburg resident asked for advice regarding a trailer belonging to another individual that she initially allowed on her property but would now like removed. She was advised that it was a civil matter and notified of her options. 3:47 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver heading west on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 7:46 p.m. An individual stopped by the sheriff’s office to express concern over her partner’s hospice care. A representative from mental health was en route. 8:40 p.m. A driver was cited for not having insurance. 10:35 p.m. A caller asked for assistance retrieving her belongings. She reported that her boyfriend had kicked her out of their home and left all her stuff outside in the rain.

April 7 – 12:30 a.m. A tree was down and blocking both lanes of SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 3:15 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a caller reported a suspicious vehicle at a Skamokawa home.
