WHS Mule Golf

A Story of two nines:

The Mules Golf Team had two nine hole matches scheduled as an away match at Tumwater Valley GC against Life Christian Academy thinking they could save some class time and driving time. The front nine cost the Mules their first loss of the season in a nine-hole match losing 192 to 188. Tyler St. Onge was medalist with a 39, but the rest of the team struggled to shoot their normal scores. Zach Johnston shot 48, Logan LaBerge 51, Elijah Doiron 54, Braxton Johns, 56 and Joseph Savelio 57. The 192 total was a disappointing score given that we scored 186 here just a month ago.

The back nine was a different story with the Mules scoring the win 169-201, moving their league intra-conference record to 8-1.

On the second back-nine Sophomore Logan LaBerge shagged his first ever medalist title by edging out team mate Tyler St. Onge 39-40. Zach Johnston improved to 44 and Joseph Savelio closed out the scoring with an 11 stroke improvement from the front nine with a 46. While the 18 totals were dominated by the Mules 361-389 at the end of the day each team finished 1-1.

The Mules still have a chance to win the league championship in a showdown next week with the Ilwaco Fishermen including two time state champion Blake Kukula. The Mules took on Three Rivers Christian April 30 at Mint Valley GC in Longview.
