Comet teams headed to state

 


The Naselle Comets baseball and softball teams are headed to state.

While the softball team is just beginning their District 2/4 1B tournament today (Thursday), the baseball team has already won their district championship and will play in the first round of the state tournament on Saturday.

The softball team finished first in league and begins the district tournament today against the winner of Wednesday’s Taholah/Rainier Christian game. Win or lose, they are guaranteed a top four finish on May 18 and will go to the state tournament in Yakima on May 24-25.

The baseball team took first in league play. They advanced to the district championship after a 12-2 win against Concordia Christian Academy on May 9. They beat Evergreen Lutheran 12-3 for first place on May 11.

On Saturday, they travel to W.F. West High School in Chehalis to play Odessa at 1 p.m. in the first round of the state tournament. The season will end for the loser, but the winner will go on to play the winner of the Quilcene/Colton game at 4 p.m. The championship game will be played on May 25.
