Mules, Comets medal in state track meets

Wahkiakum High School sophomore Jansi Merz took second place in the discus at the State 2B Track and Field Meet at Eastern Washington University with a throw of 117-03, a new personal record.

In the State Class 1B Track and Field Meet, several Naselle High School athletes received medals as well.

For the girls, Echo Cenci took third place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.48. Lillian Zimmerman placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 33-04.75. Sophie Scrabeck took fourth place in the pole vault, clearing 8-00.

In boys' competition, Faaoso Tutu'u placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 11.96 and fifth place in the long jump with a distance of 20-05.25. Monte Schell took sixth place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.49 and sixth place in the high jump, clearing 5-10. The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Corey Gregory, Tutu'u, Cody Condon, and Antonio Nolan placed fourth with a time of 46.44.
