Sheriff's Report, June 13, 2019

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 3 – 7:32 a.m. Deputies responded to a log truck accident in the Rosburg area. No injuries were reported. 12:30 p.m. A Puget Island resident found a skiff that did not belong to him tied to his dock. 2:01 p.m. A caller reported that a driver had passed him on SR 4 in an unsafe location. 2:47 p.m. A caller reported vehicles speeding on West Sunny Sands Road. 2:53 p.m. A caller complained about parking issues on Main Street in Cathlamet. 3:29 p.m. An individual was seen sleeping or passed out in front of a bank in Cathlamet. A deputy took the person to an address in the Elochoman Valley. 4:36 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone had been stealing from her, including four cans of paint. She called later to say it was the property manager, adding that she was trying to evict her. A deputy spoke with the property manager, who admitted she had taken the paint cans. She said that the four paint cans had been left in a common area near the edge of the complainant’s property, and that the complainant had failed to keep up her yard, violating neighborhood rules. The deputy advised the property manager to return the paint cans, and told the complainant to keep them inside. 6:20 p.m. A caller reported finding tools on the bridge and was concerned they had been left by bridge workers. The sheriff’s office contacted the contractor. 7:37 p.m. A driver was cited for speed.


June 4 – 4:15 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with a laceration that would not stop bleeding. 6:07 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported a loss of power after a limb fell on a power line. The PUD was notified. 8:57 a.m. A caller reported possible child abuse at a Rosedale home. 9:23 a.m. A fire alarm was activated at a Puget Island business. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded, but the alarm was canceled by security. 9:34 a.m. A deputy spoke with an individual in Rosburg who was threatening suicide while a representative from the mental health department headed to the home. 9:42 a.m. A caller reported that a door was open at a Cathlamet business, but no one appeared to be in the shop. The owner was notified. 10:12 a.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on an Elochoman Valley road. 10:51 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a customer passed out at a Cathlamet business. 12:00 p.m. A caller reported that a student at a Cathlamet school was truant. The caller asked that he be brought to school. The student’s parent was agreeable to this solution. A deputy spoke with the student. He agreed to show up the next day. 1:17 p.m. Deputies assisted the Department of Corrections in taking an individual at a Rosedale residence with a warrant into custody. 3:04 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in the Grays River area. The fire was extinguished by 3:58 p.m. 3:17 p.m. A caller reported that he had been followed closely by what appeared to be a former police vehicle. The driver was using a spotlight as well. 6:57 p.m. A Skamokawa resident was concerned that a motor home had broken down on West Valley Road and asked if a deputy could check on the passengers. A deputy responded but could not locate the vehicle.

June 5 – 7:39 a.m. A caller reported that an individual was harassing and stalking his daughter. The individual was given a trespass warning. 11:13 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Rosburg resident. 11:51 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident. 3:35 p.m. A Rosedale resident said that her child had been receiving harassing messages via Snapchat. 5:41 p.m. A Cathlamet resident found a counterfeit bill. 5:47 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that her husband had struck a water line. Another caller reported low water pressure. It was reported to be repaired at 9:33 p.m. 8:42 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious man asking about a vacant house on Puget Island.


June 6 – 10:43 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a loud explosion. Deputies responded and discovered that a propane tank had exploded in a controlled burn nearby. 3:14 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after violating a restraining order. 4:04 p.m. A caller reported that a youth was behaving strangely while sitting next to a Rosedale road. 6:37 p.m. An individual staying at County Line Park reported that she was being harassed by a man from Longview. She was advised to get a restraining order. 7:10 p.m. A caller reported that he was assaulted three days earlier.


June 7 – 7:07 a.m. A tree was down and blocking both lanes of SR 4 in the Grays River area. 7:10 a.m. A power outage was reported in Grays River. The PUD was notified. 3:31 p.m. An individual was reported missing after he took a boat from the city dock in Cathlamet. Deputies responded and the Coast Guard was notified. 9:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with severe back pain.


June 8 – 1:30 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 11:49 a.m. A caller reported that a tree had fallen on a Deep River road. The county road department was notified. 3:50 p.m. A dog was found on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 4:09 p.m. A caller reported that animals were being neglected on a Skamokawa property. 6:39 p.m. A driver was taken into custody after a vehicle stop on Puget Island. 9:08 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Puget Island home. Deputies and state patrol responded and an individual was taken into custody. 9:44 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with severe back pain.


June 9 – 6:56 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had fallen. 8:01 a.m. A caller reported that an unknown toddler was alone and in her yard in Cathlamet. The child’s parents showed up at 8:23 a.m. 11:30 a.m. A cell phone was found on Puget Island and returned to the owner. 12:57 p.m. A boater on the Columbia River near the east end of the county reported that someone was shooting at him. At 1:19 p.m, another boater reported that someone was shooting at him. 5:07 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 5:33 p.m. A dog was found on the east side of the county. 6:21 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 7:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident complaining of chest pain.
