Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 8 – 8:18 a.m. A deputy was requested after an Elochoman Valley resident found bones she believed to be human under her porch. 9:30 a.m. A Puget Island resident found a lost dog. 10:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an east county resident who had suffered injuries after falling off a ladder. 11:30 a.m. A deputy made sure an Elochoman Valley home was secure after an alarm was activated. 3:43 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded when a caller reported that a Puget Island resident was burning brush in his back yard during a burn ban. The fire was contained and extinguished by the homeowner. 8:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual at the marina.

July 9 – 3:33 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Grays River area. 9:36 a.m. A caller reported that cows were loose and in the river in the Grays River area. 10:25 a.m. A kayak was found on the side of SR 4 on KM. 4:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with a laceration on her foot. 10:45 p.m. A caller reported that a tree limb was in the westbound lane of SR 4 near Nassa Point.

July 10 – 10:52 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 12:48 p.m. A Grays River resident reported a stolen vehicle. 7:26 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious man walking on Columbia Street in Cathlamet and looking at homes.

July 11 – 7:53 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business. 11:56 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that she was being harassed. 12:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Skamokawa resident. 12:54 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained that a neighbor’s dogs had been barking incessantly. 2:40 p.m. A caller was concerned that an individual in Cathlamet was being exploited financially. 6:10 p.m. An office door was found open in Cathlamet. 10:21 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about two aggressive dogs.

July 12 – 7:52 p.m. A caller reported that a calf was loose on Puget Island. 8:33 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 near County Line Park. 9:23 a.m. Child Protective Services was notified when a Puget Island youth had unexplained bruises. 4:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and a deputy responded when a Puget Island resident needed a lift assist after a fall. 6:02 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a Cathlamet resident said she wanted to harm herself. 6:40 p.m. A caller reported seeing smoke in Cathlamet near the bridge. A deputy responded and did not see any smoke. 11:51 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing shots fired. A deputy responded and spoke to a neighbor, who had seen fireworks. The deputy continued to look for the source of the noise.

July 13 – 1:16 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 9:16 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded when a caller reported seeing a lot of smoke in the Grays River area. 11:23 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing gun fire.

July 14 – 12:20 p.m. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle in Skamokawa. 2:31 p.m. A caller reported that there were screws sticking up from the deck of the Puget Island bridge. The Department of Transportation was notified. 3:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a golfer who had lost consciousness. 4:07 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 5:00 p.m. A caller reported that a suicidal individual in Skamokawa had attacked a family member. A deputy and a representative from the mental health department responded. A person was taken into custody. 7:02 p.m. A caller reported that an individual was repeatedly speeding in the Cathlamet area. 7:16 p.m. A caller reported a man sitting along SR 4 in the Nassa Point area. A deputy responded. 7:34 p.m. A caller reported that two suspicious men had returned to pick up a vehicle that had appeared to be abandoned in Skamokawa.
