Tsuga Gallery announces August's featured artist

August 1, 2019

Genie Cary and her husband Dan, moved to Cathlamet from Oregon in 2005. Having a sailboat allowed her to see many things from a different perspective. Boats, birds, lighthouses, sunrises and sunsets were Cary’s subjects for photography.

Cary had a background in scrapbooking, computers and Photoshop, which all came in useful when she was introduced to a photo transfer process called sublimation. Sublimation is printing a photo onto different materials such as metal, hardwood, ceramic, slate and anything that has a polymer coating. She specializes in nautical themes in which she takes a photo of a boat with a nautical chart behind it. She can also take any photo and customize it and print it for you on one of many mediums.

Cary prints her own photos and does her own framing with many of her photos divided into four sections. She met the late Janet Cimino who founded Tsuga Gallery, a non-profit art co-op for artists in Wahkiakum county and surrounding areas, and joined the group. Cary is also involved with several yacht clubs and the local Wooden Boat Show. Come by Tsuga Gallery and check out the beautiful work she does.
