Camp Cedars bereavement camp set for August

August 8, 2019

Community Home Health & Hospice’s Camp Cedars, a 3-day, residential camp for children who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend, is scheduled for August 23-25. The camp is the end of year finale for children who have been attending grief support groups since September 2018.

“We see kids share their emotions,” said Linda Jacobs, volunteer. “We see them heal and grow by leaps and bounds.”

Camp Cedars helps children continue their grief work in a supportive, outdoor environment. Facilitated by trained staff, camp activities include talking circles, art, games and storytelling. The theme this year is The Overflow related to feelings from grief. Attendees will take part in all kinds of activities including wave jumping and archery. Children must attend grief support groups to participate in Camp Cedars over the summer. High Step Dance Academy made significant contributions to the youth bereavement program and Camp Cedars. To inquire or register for grief support groups contact them at 360-703-0300 or griefsupport@chhh.org.
