Coming Events--Community Center in Cathlamet

August 8, 2019

Like clock-work, nestled in the hills on Skamokawa creek, the fairgrounds family is preparing for the annual return of the Wahkiakum County Fair, starting next Thursday August 15th and running until Saturday the 17th. Wahkiakum Health and Human Services will again have a booth but with a new location and some new faces. Please swing by to hear about services available in your area--we are looking forward to seeing all of you!

Kelly, our kind and hard-working Community Outreach Specialist will hold down the booth on Thursday for Seniors Day. Along-side Kelly will be the dedicated and graceful Camille to represent Wahkiakum on the Move. Seniors, stop by and see these lovely ladies for information on AAADSW, public transit, connecting to services, community center activities, classes, volunteer opportunities and more.

There will be a special pick-up at the hotel to get to the fair on Thursday and Friday. For more details on rides call 360-795-3101 or check out the WOTM or Community Center Facebook pages.

In my new role as Healthy Community Specialist, I am making it a priority to get to know you and listen to what you have to say. Friday and Saturday, I will be rocking the HHS booth with the Key Influencer campaign. Lock Boxes will be given away, aimed at keeping marijuana out of the hands of our kiddos. This is my first campaign in my new position, and I would like feedback from you. Stop by the booth and let’s have conversations about health, food, marijuana, kids and how I can serve the county to the best of my ability.

By my side for Kid’s day and Veteran’s day will be the energetic and passionate Ginger, Coalition Coordinator for Wahkiakum Community Network. The Network is dedicated to improving the lives of our residents and is always looking for input and volunteers. She will have loads of giveaways and information to share.

Tomorrow is Free Movie Friday and Book Club at the CC. Join the crew to discuss two books: The Oath by Frank E. Peretti and Follow the River by James Alexander Thom. Weekly get-togethers are as usual; Cribbage on Weds. @ 7 p.m., Sandra Sews Thurs. @ 10 a.m., TOPS is Thurs. @ 6 p.m., Brown Bag social group meets every Friday @ 11 a.m., and every morning you can go walking with the walkers at 9 a.m.

Looking forward to seeing all of you, have a wonderous weekend, Wahkiakum!
