Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 12 – 1:13 a.m. A driver was cited for driving with a suspended license. 9:53 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Puget Island resident who had left dogs outside without food or water, which was unusual. 11:05 a.m. A Beaver Creek resident received a threatening email. 12:52 p.m. A caller reported that an individual was speeding and driving erratically in the Cathlamet area. The caller knew the driver and believed that he did not have a driver’s license or insurance. 1:50 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an individual in Cathlamet. 2:08 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that she felt threatened by a neighbor. A deputy spoke with both parties. The caller said she had been watching her kids swim when the neighbor started yelling at her and swearing. The neighbor said he was trying to tell her that her kids needed life jackets and that he had some she could borrow. He said he had asthma and it made it sound like he was yelling. He was advised not to speak to the person who had made the complaint and she said she would be in the next day to file a no contact order. 3:52 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle fire was threatening a structure in Deep River. Deputies, the Grays River Fire Department, and the Grays River ambulance responded. At 4:18 p.m., someone reported that the fire was out and that agencies could stand down. 7:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident complaining of back pain. 8 p.m. A caller reported that someone was trespassing on her Elochoman Valley property.

August 13 – 8:38 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious man walking along SR 4 in the Rosedale area. A second call came in stating that a man was staggering in and out of traffic. A third call came in that a man had exposed himself to oncoming traffic. He was taken into custody. 8:54 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient to the hospital. The patient had a rapid heart rate and kept fainting, possibly due to a laceration on his hand. 9:21 a.m. A Rosedale resident complained that her son was breaking into her room at night while she slept. An individual was taken into custody. 9:35 a.m. A Deep River resident said that her neighbors were cutting down bushes she planted 12 years ago and were putting in a fence. 10:18 a.m. A small skiff was found floating on Deep River. 3:47 p.m. A caller reported a missing dog in the Deep River area. 4:01 p.m. A caller reported that someone was speeding on a dirt bike on Morgan Drive. 6:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient after there were concerns she may have complications due to a fall two days earlier. 6:44 p.m. A person cleaning a Cathlamet bank thought she heard a door close and asked for a deputy to clear the building. 7:38 p.m. A caller saw something alongside SR 4 in the Grays River area, concerned it might be a body. State patrol responded and reported that it was just a tarp.

August 14 – 2:15 p.m. A Rosedale business reported that a driver took off without paying for $80 worth of fuel. 5:06 p.m. A caller reported that a restraining order may have been violated. 5:07 p.m. A caller reported that a dog in the Elochoman Valley was being aggressive with children. 9:03 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 10:14 p.m. A caller said that dogs were being withheld despite an agreement to share them.

August 15 – 1:59 a.m. A caller reported a burglary at a Skamokawa business. The front door window and a side window had been broken. 8:26 a.m. A caller reported that a restraining order may have been violated. 5:44 a.m. A caller was concerned about kids jumping off the bridge in Skamokawa. 7:14 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he was being harassed by someone in a black Mustang. 8:27 p.m. Multiple calls came in about a man in a cowboy hat, carrying a suitcase in the Rosedale area. 10:06 p.m. A representative from mental health requested a deputy to assist her with a crisis call at a Puget Island home. The Cathlamet ambulance responded as well. The individual at the home refused transport to the hospital.

August 16 – 7:15 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island address. A deputy responded and found everything secured. The owner was notified. 8:01 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle was parked in the middle of a Cathlamet parking lot. 11:39 a.m. A representative from mental health requested a deputy to transport an individual to the hospital for involuntary treatment. 12:20 p.m. A Deep River resident complained that her neighbors were cutting down bushes she planted 12 years ago and putting in a fence. 1:08 p.m. A caller was concerned that an individual had followed him from one Rosedale business to another in an attempt to collect his credit card information. 1:11 p.m. A caller reported that she had been bitten by a dog in Cathlamet. 1:28 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at an Elochoman Valley home. 1:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported an individual to the hospital. 2:48 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported hearing an alarm but could not ascertain where it was coming from. He called later to say it was a false alarm; a battery needed to be replaced. 3:13 p.m. A caller reported a missing dog. 10:45 p.m. A driver was seen doing cookies on the football field at the high school in Cathlamet. 11:38 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident who was behaving strangely.

August 17 – 12:28 a.m. A driver was taken into custody after a field sobriety test. 10:44 a.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance, and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded after a driver hit a guard rail in the Nassa Point area. No injuries were reported. A tow truck was called. 2:22 p.m. A welfare check was requested at a Grays River home. 4:43 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver at a Rosedale business. 6:21 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an individual at the fairgrounds in Skamokawa. A deputy responded and located the person, who was okay. 10:24 p.m. A caller had information about the burglary at the store in Skamokawa.

August 18 – 12:25 a.m. A Deep River caller said she was hiding because several people had been physically attacking her. A deputy and the Grays River ambulance responded. An individual was taken into custody. 1:24 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that someone had broken into her car. 1:37 a.m. A camper staying at the marina reported that several people in a truck were at the rock pit. A deputy responded but did not find anything. The complainant called again, upset that the deputy did not stop and speak to him. A deputy responded and spoke with the individual. 8:52 a.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded after a body of a deceased man was found on a dock at the marina. 9:46 a.m. A caller reported that a restraining order had been violated. 10:09 a.m. A caller reported a missing tablet. It had been turned in earlier and was returned to the caller. 10:50 a.m. A caller asked for assistance in retrieving her dogs from a Skamokawa home. She was advised that it was a civil matter. 11:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 5:26 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots fired in the Skamokawa area. He was concerned that someone might be shooting towards his property. 7:12 p.m. A caller reported that a sailboat was stuck on a sandbar east of Cathlamet. The Coast Guard was notified.
