Walter R. Ivanoff

Walter R. Ivanoff of Kelso WA passed away at St John’s Hospital on September 26, 2019 at the age of 85.

He was born December 8, 1933 in Westport OR to George and Irene Ivanoff. A grandson of Finnish immigrants, he had what the Finns call sisu. Walt graduated from Naselle High School in 1951 and served four years in the Air Force after enlisting in 1953.

He married Janet Gollersrud of Grays River WA in 1953. He was an outdoorsman and among his various occupations he especially enjoyed working on his tree farm.

Walt is survived by his devoted wife Janet; daughter Debra Mobley and her husband Paul of Kelso; step granddaughter April Hoffman, her husband Greg and their sons Everett and Isaiah of Kalama; nieces Irene Cadonau, Marina Groves and nephew Frank Dumich. He was preceded in death by his daughter Annette Ivanoff who died in 1980 at the age of 21 and his sister Katherine Dumich.

In a private service, Walter was laid to rest alongside his daughter at the Grays River Cemetery. He will be greatly missed.
