Evaluating mason bees cocoons

October 10, 2019

On October 12 at 10:00 a.m., Billie Bevers, Washington State University Master Gardener, will present a workshop on how to evaluate mason bees cocoons for disease.

During the spring and summer other bees, diseases and parasites can invade mason bee nests. This two hour session is a “hands on” active and fun class to help identify what’s in the mason bee tubes and blocks. There will be cocoons participants can evaluate if they don’t have their own. Information on overwintering bees and creating containers for their long sleep will be presented.

Bring questions and a paper bag to carry home cocoons. The program, sponsored by Washington State University Extension, will be held at the Cowlitz County Training Center, 1942 First Avenue in Longview. Class registration is $10.00 (collected at class) and limited to 30 people.
