Mendacities, distortions will be recognized

To The Eagle:

“There was no crime committed,” according to the Inspectors General of both the Dept. of Justice and the Dept. of State who exonerated Hillary Clinton after a three year investigation into her use of a private email server during her term as Secretary of State.

Investigators found no “systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information by Clinton or her associates, nor was there evidence classified material had been compromised,” according to a State Department report presented to Congress.

Regardless, Trump persists in declaring this to be Clinton’s “greatest crime of the country.” He’s still shouting this lie at his rallies where the faithful swoon and chant “lock her up!”

Such hypocritical mendacity may excite the credulous of his cult, but there’s a much less gullible audience here who scoff at this transparent attempt to misdirect our attention toward Clinton and away from the present unraveling of Trump’s corrupt, self serving presidency.

Another recent deceitful distortion of the facts is his whopper about “Obama enabling Iran to get ‘nuked up’ and giving them a billion and a half bucks to boot."

This is presumably a reference to the Iran Nuclear Agreement and its several participating nations that froze $120 billion of Iran’s international assets in order to cripple the Iranian nuclear program while forcing them to the bargaining table.

When Iran signed the nuclear control and inspection agreement and demonstrated compliance with its stringent terms, the participating signatories unfroze $30 billion of Iranian assets as a sign of good faith.

That, I presume, was the alleged “billion dollar giveaway,” the release of their own funds back to the Iranians. Oh, and hand carried by Obama, we are supposed to imagine, in bags full $1000 bills, to boot!

That Iranian nuclear control accord has a strong framework, does suffer some flaws, but strives to ensure the security of all. Importantly, it can be strengthened by amendment.

Our national Constitution shares all of those traits. Perhaps that’s why Trump treats it with such contempt, for which I say, “Lock him up!”
