Wahkiakum County Port 1 Commissioners met briefly last Thursday to talk about a variety of issues.

An error was discovered on the 2020 rate schedule. Three vendor fees had been listed when there should have been only one, set at $10. Commissioners approved the correction. They also approved a correction to an RV rate that was listed at $400 and should have been set at $410 and set a rate for an open storage unit at $250.

According to a report prepared by the Port Manager, Jackie Lea, representatives from a lake community in northwest Oregon have expressed interest in leasing the dredge. The Wahkiakum County PUD General Manager Dave Tramblie had dropped off information on electric vehicle charging stations, which she shared with the commissioners.

Port staff have been busy with repairs and upkeep around the marina. They repaired a yurt after a customer struck it and caused damage. The customer’s insurance reimbursed the port for wages to repair, lost rental, and a new yurt cover. Port staff also had to remove two trees that had become dangerous after beavers had nearly chewed through them.

Counsel Tim Hanigan is preparing an interlocal agreement with Wahkiakum County regarding their property, Johnson House, for the commissioner’s review.
