Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 11 – 10:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was slurring her words and having balance issues. 2:32 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident with low blood pressure. 6 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a neighbor’s cat had been begging for food for three days and requested a welfare check on the neighbor. A deputy responded. No one appeared to be home. 6:48 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident requested assistance when a person who had been asked to leave would not do so. During the phone call, the individual was heard to say he would leave. 7:17 p.m. A caller reported that he had struck a deer on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. The deer was blocking one lane of traffic, and state patrol was notified. 8:47 p.m. A caller reported a tree was blocking a Rosburg road. The county road department was notified. 9:12 p.m. A caller reported that he had struck a deer on a Puget Island road. It was still alive and in the ditch. State patrol said they would notify Fish and Wildlife. The deer was euthanized. 11:02 p.m. A caller was concerned about an individual on Puget Island who had sent her a picture showing evidence of self harm. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded, and the individual was transported to the hospital.

November 12 – 12:30 a.m. The sheriff’s office was asked to contact a Pacific County deputy regarding a domestic violence incident that happened earlier in the day. 8:11 a.m. A caller reported that cows were loose and on Elochoman Valley Road. 10:09 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on someone they had spoken to on the phone. After dispatch was unable to contact the individual by phone a deputy located the individual and reported that nothing appeared to be wrong. 12:28 p.m. A caller reported that two dogs were running around a Cathlamet school playground. 1:30 p.m. A caller reported finding possible drug paraphernalia at an Elochoman Valley home. 2:28 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident with respiratory issues and high blood sugar. 3:23 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale home after an individual was found unresponsive. 5:20 p.m. A caller reported a van in a ditch west of County Line Park. No injuries were reported. A deputy, the District 4 Fire Department, and a tow truck responded. 6:02 p.m. A caller was concerned about the safety of an Elochoman Valley resident and her child. Deputies responded but the individual would not talk to them. 10:49 p.m. A driver was cited for speed. 11:05 p.m. A caller reported that he believed a person who had been reported missing from Aberdeen was in the area.

November 13 – 3:07 a.m. A caller reported that he would be repossessing a vehicle from a home in Rosedale. 7:48 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a suspicious man on a bicycle had been hanging around his home and trying to get a look inside. 10:01 a.m. A caller reported that fuel had been stolen from a boat at the marina in Cathlamet. 11:23 a.m. A caller reported that a domestic duck had been left in a cage along SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 5:13 p.m. A caller reported that a youth had run away from home after making suicidal comments. A deputy made contact with the youth who requested a mental health professional. The parents were notified. 5:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was feeling dizzy and having trouble staying awake. 6:21 p.m. The Grays River Fire Department responded to the report of a large burn in Grays River. The fire was permitted and the property owner said he would be burning all night. 6:41 p.m. A caller asked for a welfare check on his wife at their Rosedale home. He was out of town and had been unable to contact her. A deputy responded and the Cathlamet ambulance was dispatched. 7:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and a representative from mental health responded to an Elochoman Valley home after an agitated caller reported that she wasn’t feeling well. 7:42 p.m. A caller reported that a Rosedale resident was neglecting their cats.

November 14 – 8:08 a.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at the Beaver Creek hatchery. 12:53 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that she had been threatened by a couple who had previously stayed in her home. 1:42 p.m. Deputies, the Grays River Fire Department, and the Grays River ambulance responded when a caller reported that a neighbor was calling for help. 3:02 p.m. A caller reported that he and his wife had been chased by dogs while riding bikes on Puget Island. A deputy spoke with the owner.

November 15 – 5:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and the District 4 Fire Department responded to a Rosedale home for a lift assist. 8:17 a.m. A caller reported that an individual had shot a deer from a Skamokawa road. A deputy spoke with the shooter, who was a juvenile. He said he had been 40 feet from the road when he made the kill. The kill appeared to be properly tagged and legal. The deputy then spoke with the caller, who said the shooter had asked for permission to hunt on his property, which he declined. The caller said that less than a minute later he heard several rifle shots. He said he then witnessed the youth put on his orange vest and retrieve the kill, which was no longer on his property. He did not believe there had been enough time for the youth to have left the roadway. A deputy spoke with the shooter’s father. No further actions were taken. 5:29 p.m. A deputy, the Skamokawa Fire Department, and the Department of Natural Resources responded when a caller reported that a tree at Vista Park was on fire and that the fire was spreading. The caller believed it was arson. 7:45 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported an assault and an individual was taken into custody.

November 16 – 12:35 a.m. A caller reported finding a window smashed out and a bumper missing from a vehicle parked at Wahkiakum High School. The caller said the window had been covered. 5:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen and injured a foot. 9:55 a.m. A caller reported possible trespassers on a Deep River property. 12:52 p.m. A caller reported hay on SR 4 west of Rosburg. 1:18 p.m. A caller reported that a personal watercraft was adrift on the Columbia River south of Puget Island. 4:07 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Grays River home after a caller reported that an individual was dizzy and complaining of chest pain. 10:47 p.m. Deputies and the Skamokawa ambulance responded to a Skamokawa home when a caller requested help for an individual who had become agitated. An individual was detained.

November 17 – 7:38 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Elochoman Valley resident. 9:43 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was having a seizure.
