Street closures and parking set for lighted parade

December 12, 2019

The Holiday Market and Wahkiakum Lighted Parade will go on rain or shine at the Elochoman Slough Marina, so bundle up in warm clothes and don’t forget your umbrella. Come early to get your spot and shop the many vendors and kids activities at the market which will open at 3 p.m on Saturday, December 14. Bring your camp chair to warm up by one of the bonfires while you enjoy some chili and other tasty treats from Maria’s Taco Shack.

Parking will be available on Wesley Street by the marina, the Family Health Clinic parking lot, the lot next to the Town Hall and Strong Park. Several of these areas would be convenient for viewing the parade from your vehicle during inclement weather. Please do not park at the marina, those spaces will be reserved for parade entries.

The Parade Route this year will start at the Elochoman Marina and head straight up 2nd Street turning right on Chester Street, right on Main Street, right on Broadway Street, right on River Street heading up Una Avenue, turning left on 3rd Street back to the marina and left at the gravel access road in front of the storage units. Parade entries will be encouraged to park there for public viewing.

Access to the parade route will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., for all through vehicle traffic from SR4 at Main Street, Chester Street, Una Avenue and the junction at Main and Broadway Streets. There will be no parking restrictions, but if you are parked on the parade route during those hours please keep in mind that you will not be allowed to move your vehicle or leave until the streets re-open after the parade, but you will have a great seat for watching the procession of lights.

Traffic to the Cathlamet Market, Puget Island and the Wahkiakum Ferry should take Columbia Street turning right for the market parking lot or left to Front Street for Puget Island.

Participants, please get your parade applications in as soon as possible or contact Paige Lake at paigelake101@gmail.com or 360 269-6737 for more information.
