Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 23 – 9:24 a.m. A deputy accompanied two employees from the Department of Ecology to a Skamokawa property. 11:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident complaining of pain. 11:48 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island residence. The responsible party did not know the alarm code. 12:02 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that packages delivered to his home had been stolen. The resident called later to report that there had been an error with tracking and the packages were not missing. 12:38 p.m. A Deep River resident found three cows on his property. A deputy responded and found five cows. At 2:18 p.m., the cows were off the property and on the road. 3:15 p.m. A caller reported that two horses were being neglected at a Rosburg address.

December 24 – 7:58 a.m. A caller requested contact after a vehicle registered to her was allegedly being used in suspicious activity. 10:43 a.m. An individual was taken into custody on a felony warrant in Cathlamet. 12:29 p.m. Dispatch heard a woman cursing in the background of an open call coming from an Elochoman Valley home. A deputy responded and found no one there. Meanwhile, the subject had showed up at the sheriff’s office to let them know that everything was okay. 2:43 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a power outage, possibly due to a blown fuse. The PUD was notified. 3:22 p.m. A caller reported that a driver had struck a fence in Skamokawa and left the scene, leaving parts of his bumper and hub caps behind. Deputies found the driver, who initially declined medical assistance. He later complained of head pain and the Skamokawa Fire Department and the Skamokawa ambulance responded. He refused transport to the hospital. 3:33 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a package that had been delivered to his home had been stolen. 7:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was intoxicated and may have had blood in his vomit.

December 25 – 7:02 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with high blood pressure. 7:29 a.m. The Puget Island Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance provided a lift assist for a Puget Island resident. 11:26 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on two children in a Rosburg home. 2:59 p.m. A caller reported that an individual was trespassing on a Puget Island property. 4:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident suffering a possible heart attack. 8:28 p.m. A caller complained that a neighbor’s dog had been barking aggressively for the past two hours. He had attempted to call his neighbor, but there was no answer. Dispatch attempted to call the home, but there was no answer. A deputy was notified. 8:41 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 11:34 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Skamokawa home to aid an individual who was vomiting and confused.

December 26 – 4:26 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual who had overdosed at an Elochoman Valley home. 6:10 a.m. A driver lost control after hitting black ice on SR 4 near Nassa Point. He went into the ditch, came out of it, and struck some mail boxes. State patrol was notified. 12:29 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Rosburg resident with a swollen arm. 5:27 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle being towed by an SUV had struck the SUV several times.

December 27 – 2:50 p.m. The sheriff’s office received a referral from Adult Protective Services about a person in Deep River. 5:29 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after an assault was reported at a Puget Island home.

December 28 – 2:58 a.m. Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a Cathlamet home after an intoxicated boyfriend allegedly kicked his way through a front door. He had returned after being asked to leave a few days earlier. Two women were in a bedroom and the subject was outside on the porch. The caller said the boyfriend owned a rifle, but he was not currently carrying it. At 5:32 a.m., the woman involved in the domestic disturbance wanted it documented that her boyfriend had thrown a burrito at her. She wanted him to go to jail for assault. At 5:53 a.m., an individual was taken into custody. 8:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a heart problem. 9:11 a.m. A caller reported that there had been an assault the night before at an Elochoman Valley residence when someone had tried to break up a fight. 5:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with an irregular heart rate.

December 29 – 12:07 p.m. After a caller abandoned a 911 call, dispatch called back and got no response. A deputy responded to an east county home and found a garage door open. 9:30 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 heading west from Stella. The caller reported that the vehicle was being driven erratically and had struck a guard rail. State patrol took the driver into custody.
