The Wahkiakum Mule wrestling team spent some time on the road this week.

The boys traveled to Tenino on Saturday, but returned without any medals. Meanwhile, the girls headed to Kelso for their annual two day tournament. It’s a big event, and this year, there were 800 girls from several states competing.

Lily Hale placed highest for the Lady Mules, making it to the second day of competition and the top 16 in a 64 person bracket. McKenna Mendez won two matches and lost two. Arwynn Haney, Hannah Mendez, and Jenna Mellis were all out after two.

Makayla Davis was out after bruising her collar bone during her second match.

At a league meet in Onalaska on Tuesday, Davis won with a pin. Hale lost both both her matches. Hannah and McKenna Mendez both lost.

Braxton Johns and Cayden Mendez both won two by a pin while Gabe and Eli Moon lost their matches.

On Friday the girls head to R.A. Long, and on Saturday the whole team wrestles in Napavine.
