Horse Gaming Series

February 20, 2020

The dates for this year's Silver Buckle five show series have been set. The series dates for this year are May 16, June 13, July 11, August 22 and September 26, all Saturdays.

For a fun kick off to the series, we have decided to offer a camp out and free play day the night before, on May 15. The gate will open at 5 p.m. on Friday May 15 for those who want to camp. Cost for the camping will be posted at a later date.

Campers can participate in the play day or not. You can just relax and enjoy the fun. You do not have to camp in order to participate in the play day.

Warm up for the play day will start at 5 p.m., when the gates open. Start time for the play day will be 7 p.m.. There is no entry fee for the play day and there will be a goody bag for each rider.

On May 16, the gates will open at 8 a.m. for warm up and registration. the show will start at 10 a.m.

This year we will again be doing the 50/50 Texas Barrels jackpot and offering time only tickets. Time only tickets will be one ticket per rider per event and must be used day of purchase.

By adding the 50/50 jackpot and time only tickets, we seemed to be running a little long, so this year we will run five events instead of six.

We will be running four set events--Texas Barrels, Key Hole, Figure 8, and Pole Bending. The fifth event will be a surprise and will be a different one for every show. We hope mixing it up a little will bring a little more fun and excitement to every show.

The gaming series news letter and new registration form are being put together now. We hope to get them out in the next couple of weeks. Show series information will continue to be in The Wahkiakum Eagle once a month. You will also be able to find updates on our Wahkiakum Silver Buckle Facebook page.

The Silver Buckle series has allowed us to make great improvements to the footing in the arena, making it a safer place to ride. We plan to add more screened dirt to the arena this year. The arena needs 30 dump truck loads of good screened dirt to make it a great place to ride for fun or to host a horse event.

We also need to line the inside of the arena panels. This will provide a safer, more sturdy arena wall. It will also keep the dirt in the arena if there is flooding to the arena. So if there is anyone out there that would like to donate some good clean dirt or plywood, please contact me, Valerie Antijunti at 509-697-6049 or at sheepmilksoap@gmail.com.
