Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

February 24--10:24 a.m. A deputy sheriff assisted Department of Corrections (DOC) officers at a Skamokawa address.

February 25--12:27 a.m. A caller said a next door neighbor had heard noise like someone was stealing something from the caller's house, which is equipped with video surveillance. 12:34 a.m. A caller reported his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend were trespassing in the backyard. 10:10 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and officers responded to a Puget Island residence to aid a woman who was unconscious. 1:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and a deputy responded to a Cathlamet area residence where a female had fallen and injured her head. 5:46 p.m. An officer issued a citation after making a vehicle stop on SR 4 west of Cathlamet.

February 26--10:59 a.m. Following up on a report of child abuse from Adult Protective Services, officers contacted people at a Cathlamet area residence; all parties seemed to be doing well and reported no issues. 11:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Morgan Drive residence to aid a man with heart issues.

February 27--9:22 a.m. An officer responded to Wahkiakum High School where a student was creating a disturbance; the student was referred to the school counselor and no police action was taken. 2:40 p.m. A caller reported a large pack of motorcycles was speeding on Covered Bridge Road. 5:27 p.m. For the second time in two days, loose cattle were spotted on SR 4 near the Bjornsgard Road intersection; they were gone when an officer arrived. 6:27 p.m. An officer arrested a person after making a vehicle stop on East Valley Road. 9:45 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to an Eden Valley residence to aid a man who was very ill.

February 28--2:07 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported being harassed by a neighbor. 9:12 a.m. A caller reported seeing young men harassing a wounded elk on Kandoll Road; Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 11:17 a.m. An officer assisted DOC officers at a Puget Island residence. 1:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to Skamokawa to aid a female who was very ill. 1:57 p.m. A caller reported a possibly drunken driver on SR 4 near County Line Park; an officer stopped the vehicle and said everything was fine. 2:37 p.m. A Rosedale resident said two people had stolen a gun, CDs and other items from him.

February 29--12:39 a.m. An officer and mental health personnel responded to a Westend residence to aid a man having suicidal thoughts. 10:19 a.m. A person reported that a woman standing near the closed Wright's Hardware store in Cathlamet was screaming and kicking the building. 1:49 p.m. An officer took a person into custody after making a vehicle stop west of Cathlamet. 8:46 p.m. An officer arrested a person after making a vehicle stop east of Cathlamet. 10:21 p.m. District 4 fire fighters and officers responded to a Beaver Creek Road residence having a chimney fire.

March1--8:44 a.m. A caller reported seeing a woman going through mailboxes along SR 409 on Puget Island. 2:45 p.m. A deputy and a state patrolman responded to a report of a partially disrobed woman hitting her head on a guardrail along SR 4 near County Line Park; no one was there when they arrived. 3:12 p.m. A motorist reported someone had run into a guardrail at the intersection of SR 4 and Elochoman Valley Road and left the scene. 3:13 p.m. Fire fighters from the Skamokawa and Department of Natural Resources departments responded to a brush fire in Skamokawa Vista Park; arson investigators were called in because of the location and the fact that this was the second fire in the area. The DNR crew monitored the fire and let it burn itself out.

March 2--5:55 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Beaver Creek Road residence where a person was having breathing trouble; rather than wait, the caller transported the patient to a hospital. 11:46 a.m. A Cathlamet business reported an old telephone wire was smoldering; the Cathlamet Fire Department, a deputy, and Wahkiakum PUD responded; the phone company was notified to turn off the unused wire. 5:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a child who had taken an overdose of pills. 10:14 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet area man with chest pain.
