Closures cascade for covid-19 response

The Port 1/Elochoman Slough Marina office will be closed to the public to protect customers and employees. Payments may be made by phone, mail, or payment drop box. For all customer inquiries, including applications for moorage, call 360-795-3501.

The Charlotte House, a program of St. James Family Center, is taking precautionary measures to promote the well-being of their staff and clients. Beginning March 17, they will provide services by phone or email. They are not allowing walk in clients at this time. Advocates can be reached 24/7 and all services are free and confidential. To reach an advocate, call: 360-795-6400 or toll free 866-795-9381. They will reassess the situation weekly and update as necessary on their Facebook page and website. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Cathlamet Market Fresh is instituting new procedures to sanitize cart handles, carry baskets, and bathrooms several times a day. They are also setting up a curbside pick up service. Customers can call in orders by phone, text, email, or Facebook Messenger. Call 360-795-3511, text 360-269-3842, email cathlametmarketfresh@kirbyco.net or send order to Cathlamet Market Fresh on Facebook Messenger. If paid in advance, orders can be picked up anytime. If planning to pay when the order is picked up, customers must call in order by 2 p.m., and pick up by 4 p.m. the same day. If an order is made after 2 p.m., the order can be picked up the following day by 4 p.m. This does not include alcohol or tobacco, which must be purchased in store or curbside following ID verification. Curbside pick up is available Monday-Friday.

The Wahkiakum County Broadband Action Committee Meeting for March 23 has been cancelled.

Washington State Poet Laureate Claudia Castro Luna has canceled her visit to Wahkiakum County, scheduled for April 17-19, and so RiverPoets has decided to postpone the entire event, including One River, Many Poets, which was scheduled for April 18 at the River Life Interpretive Center.

Seed exchanges planned for March 21 at Johnson Park and March 28 at the Cathlamet Community Center have been postponed. However, WSU Wahkiakum County Extension and WSU Master Gardeners are coordinating a virtual seed exchange. Check for details in an article found elsewhere in today’s paper.

Wahkiakum Food and Farm Network and WSU Wahkiakum County Extension are presenting an online farm roundtable on Thursday, March 26 at 3 p.m. on covid-19 and emergency/contingency planning for the farm. For more details, check article found elsewhere in today’s paper.

All WAGS (Wahkiakum Acoustic Guitar Society) events have been canceled for the time being.

Backroadz has decided to close for the time being.

Patty Cakes Cafe and Roasting is open for takeout.

Pizza Mill is only doing takeout orders.

Maria’s is offering takeout.

River Mile 38 Brewery will have hours for pick up and delivery.

River Mile 38 Brewery and Maria’s have also partnered for a special beer and food delivery.

Duffy’s Irish Pub is offering takeout.

Backwater Farm, open on Saturdays from 12-4 p.m., is offering curbside service.

Lucky Mud has closed their disc golf course.

River Life Interpretative Center is closed for events, exhibits, and tours.
