Second case of covid-19 confirmed

Wahkiakum Health and Human Services Director Chris Bischoff confirmed on Monday that a second Wahkiakum County resident has tested positive for covid-19.

The individual has mild symptoms and is self-quarantining.

The new case is unrelated to the first positive case confirmed on Friday.

H&HS is following standard procedure and has been in contact with the second individual to determine with whom they have come in close contact. Close contact is defined as being within six feet of another person for 10 minutes or more.

Anyone who is determined to have been in close contact will be notified by H&HS. If you have not been contacted, you have not been in close contact.

Please continue to practice social distancing. Even people who have not been tested and are not showing any symptoms could be carrying covid-19.
