Sheriff's Report, April 2, 2020

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 23 — 5:43 a.m. A caller reported that an individual had passed away at a Skamokawa residence. A deputy and the coroner responded. 6:42 a.m. A caller reported a rollover accident on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. A deputy and state patrol responded. 9:43 a.m. A caller reported that a transient was sleeping in front of a Rosedale business. A deputy spoke with the individual who said he was waiting for the bus. 11:18 a.m. A caller reported that a neighbor in Rosburg was burning tires, hot tub parts, and plastic. A deputy and the Grays River Fire Department responded. Other units were told to stand down when it was determined to be a false alarm. 4:20 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a youth in the Elochoman Valley who had passed out twice after he had an accident on a four wheeler. 4:25 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone had stolen a battery out of his fishing boat. 6:11 p.m. An individual was detained and transported to Longview after a caller at a Rosedale business reported that he was harassing customers. 11:20 p.m. A caller complained that there was a lot of traffic and people using spotlights at a Skamokawa address. The landowner was contacted. She apologized for the noise and said employees were “coming off the hill.”


March 24 — 8:33 a.m.The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident complaining of weakness and a heavy feeling in her chest. 9:56 A wallet was found on a sidewalk in downtown Cathlamet. 2:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and the Puget Island Fire Department provided a lift assist for a Puget Island resident who had fallen. The individual refused transport to the hospital. 2:20 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious person possibly cutting wood on private property in Deep River. The caller said it also sounded like the individual had gotten his truck stuck in the mud. A deputy responded and spoke with the man who said he was looking for firewood and did not realize he was on private property. He said his truck had gotten stuck, but he was trying to leave. 7:28 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained that his neighbor’s ducks were coming on to his property. The caller said that when his children tried to get the ducks off their land, the neighbor came out and started yelling and cussing at them. A deputy responded and spoke with both parties. The caller was advised that no crime was committed because no threat had been made. The neighbor was advised to keep her animals in her yard and not to yell or cuss at the kids.


March 25 — 1:55 p.m. A caller reported that five cows were loose along SR 4 west of Skamokawa. 10:30 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address.


March 26 — 12:42 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who had fallen and injured a hip. 5:47 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident with stomach pain. 7:43 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious, large, loud truck with lights on the cab driving back and forth repeatedly on Elochoman Valley Road.

March 27 — 8:51 a.m. A caller reported that an individual currently at the hospital in Longview had threatened a Wahkiakum mental health worker. 4:54 p.m. A welfare check was requested for two youths at an Elochoman Valley home. 5:12 p.m. A caller reported that there were about a dozen cows on SR 4 west of Skamokawa. 5:24 p.m. A caller was concerned that two suspicious people in a truck were looking for a place to dump trash in the Elochoman Valley. 6:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Alger Creek resident who had low blood pressure and was complaining of pain in his back and left shoulder.

March 28 — 7:25 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business. A deputy responded and a responsible party was notified. 2:46 p.m. An alarm was activated at an east county home. A deputy and the owner responded. 3:14 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and a deputy responded to a Puget Island home. 5:50 p.m. A caller reported an unattended fire in the Skamokawa area. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded. They found a 3 x 3 smoldering pile of ash and decided to leave it alone. 8:07 p.m. A deputy responded to a Rosedale home after a 911 call was ended and dispatch was unable to make contact. 9:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual in Cathlamet who was pregnant, had a hernia, and was vomiting a lot.
