Trump uses bully pulpit in lieu of political rallies

To The Eagle:

I can appreciate Sen. Ron Johnson’s ( R-Wis.) commentary on keeping a little perspective during this pandemic.

He said "every premature death is a tragedy, but death is an unavoidable part of life. More than 2.8 million die each year — nearly 7,700 a day. The 2017-18 flu season was exceptionally bad, with 61,000 deaths attributed to it. Can you imagine the panic if those mortality statistics were attributed to a new virus and reported nonstop?"

Like now. Incessant media yammering about local, national and global pandemic infection and death rates have gone well beyond providing newsworthy information and morphed into a panic inducing “TV Special Disaster Event.” Enough is enough. Change the channel!

Everything you need to know to keep you and your community safe during our Covid-19 season can be summarized on one double spaced typewritten page and has been repeatedly broadcast on every conceivable venue of public communications.

Then there’s Trump’s daily “ corona virus press briefings.” These contain kernels of good information from medical experts when they are at the podium. Unfortunately, when our Egomaniac-In-Chief steps up, he hijacks this informational venue into an impromptu bully pulpit and substitute for the political rallies he’s not able to have now. These should not be broadcast live, but taped, so news feeds can edit out the trumpcrap and stick to pertinent evolving information.

Regardless of the issue, whether an international armed conflict, or a national public health crisis, it ultimately becomes all about Himself, the thin skinned windbag who shut down the traditional daily White House press briefings because he didn’t like the naughty questions the national press corp were asking.

It’s simple. To avoid disaster, keep your distance, cover your cough, wash your hands often and do not vote for Trump again.
