Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 30 — 6:28 p.m. A caller reported that mail had been stolen from an individual in Cathlamet.

March 31 — 7:40 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. The owner was contacted. He said that the alarm had been tripped during a fight between dogs. 7:46 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a couple in Cathlamet. A deputy made contact. They said they were fine. 11:24 p.m. A caller reported that a tree was down and blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 just west of County Line Park. State patrol was notified.

April 1 — 4:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided two individuals who were not feeling well after using chemicals to deal with a bug infestation in their home. Both refused transport to the hospital. 10:17 a.m. A Rosedale resident asked to speak to a deputy about a gun part that was possibly stolen. 12:43 p.m. A caller reported a westbound truck with lumber sticking out of the bed. 1:22 p.m. A caller reported that her husband would not allow her to visit her children. A deputy advised the caller that it was a superior court matter. 1:30 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle speeding on a Deep River road. 3:55 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that he had seen an item that had been stolen years earlier. A deputy spoke with an individual about the item. He said he was uncertain how his children had obtained the item, and it was returned to the owner. Because it was past the statute of limitations, no further action was taken. 8:59 p.m. A caller reported hearing several shots fired on South Welcome Slough Road. Deputies responded and spoke with a neighbor who said he had fired off a few rounds with his new handgun. He was advised not to fire the weapon at dark. 11:04 p.m. A deputy assisted an individual in Cathlamet with a vehicle unlock.

April 2 — 8:54 a.m. The sheriff’s department was notified of an abandoned RV at the marina in Cathlamet.

April 3 — 12:56 p.m. The sheriff’s department assisted the Department of Corrections at a Puget Island address. 3:04 p.m. A caller reported that someone on a dirt bike was traveling around the Deep River area at high speed. 4:29 p.m. A caller reported three or four cows on SR 4 near the slide on KM. The owner was notified. 6:43 p.m. A deputy and a representative from mental health responded to a Puget Island residence after a youth became agitated, started making suicidal statements, and threatened an individual in the home. 7:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was feeling light headed and had blood in his urine. 8:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with sharp abdominal pain.

April 4 — 1:38 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 1:06 p.m. A caller reported finding an unoccupied truck that had rolled over a cliff and into a creek along a logging road in the Skamokawa area. There was cedar in the vehicle and the battery was missing. 2:45 p.m. A caller reported that there were six or seven cows on SR 4 just east of the slide on KM. An attempt was made to contact the owner. 4:59 p.m. A caller reported an elk with a possible broken leg in a Grays River field. State patrol said they would notify Fish and Wildlife. 7:18 p.m. A caller reported that the Coast Guard had been informed of a boat drifting in the Columbia River near County Line Park.
