Cowlitz County offered two brush trucks and a tender. The Department of Natural Resources was notified and en route.

April 13 — 11:58 a.m. A caller reported that a cement truck heading east from Rosedale was dropping rocks all over SR 4. At 12:05 p.m., the driver of a cement truck was stopped near Flandersville, but it turned out to be the wrong truck.

He said he would be home shortly to put out the fire. 4:50 p.m. While at work, a parent requested a welfare check for a child in a Grays River home because she was diabetic and ailing. A deputy made several attempts to make contact and was finally able to speak with the child at 6:27 p.m. She said she was feeling better, but because the only adult in the home at the time was neither a parent nor a guardian, and because he said he had no knowledge of her medical issues, Child Protective Services was notified. 5:12 p.m. Two deputies responded when a caller reported a squatter at the old fire hall in Grays River. The door to the building had been kicked in. 9:44 p.m. A deputy, state patrol, and the Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had passed out. The resident regained consciousness while the caller was on the phone with dispatch and later refused transport to the hospital.

April 16 — 3:08 p.m. A caller reported ongoing thefts at a Beaver Creek home. 7:03 p.m. A caller reported a burning smell at a Cathlamet home. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded. They found a fire pit. A deputy checked to see if the burning smell was coming from a nearby property. 7:33 p.m. A caller reported seeing a large cloud of smoke in the Elochoman Valley. A deputy investigated and said it was possibly coming from someone’s chimney.

The owner was notified. 3:47 p.m. A caller reported that a disabled vehicle was blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 just east of Cape Horn. State patrol was notified. 9:43 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported seeing 30-40 lights, equally spaced, flying at a high speed above his home. He then said that there were three lights above him, all in a straight line, two of them close to each other. He initially thought they were satellites.

April 18 — 6:45 a.m. A caller reported that there was a deer by the side of a Puget Island road that looked like it had been hit. The caller said it looked like it was still alive. A deputy responded at 7:24 a.m. and reported that the deer looked like it had been hit by a car, but it also appeared to have been euthanized because there was a bullet wound in its chest. Fish and Wildlife were notified. 8:19 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been abandoned in the middle of a Deep River road. The owner was located. He said that he was trying to repair and move it. 2:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having seizures. 4:48 p.m. A deputy, the Skamokawa Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a two vehicle accident on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area.
