Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

May 10 — 1:25 a.m. A caller reported that two people in a loud vehicle had pulled into the day use area at County Line Park. A deputy responded and said that the people in the car were headed down to the beach. 6:59 a.m. A caller complained about loud noise coming from a Rosedale business on an early Sunday morning. 9:04 a.m. A caller reported that a young child was on the roadway in the Elochoman Valley. 1:46 p.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported that a dog had run away. The owner was notified when the animal was located. 3:15 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained about a neighbor’s dog’s constant barking. The caller was informed that the county did not have an ordinance regarding the issue. 5:03 p.m. A caller reported that an individual was driving while intoxicated. 6:33 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Skamokawa home. 11:07 p.m. A caller reported a small fire in a tree in Cathlamet. He said that he had extinguished the fire; a deputy and the District 4 Fire Department responded.

May 11 — 8:14 am. A caller reported that a vehicle may have broken down on SR 4 on the east side of KM. 1:39 p.m. A caller reported seeing a rental truck with the words “Help, please call cops” written in the dirt on the back. Deputies stopped the vehicle. 2:54 p.m. A caller reported that two dogs at a home on North Welcome Slough rushed at him while he rode by on his bicycle. He said they stopped when he yelled at them and returned to their home. 3:08 p.m. Child Protective Services asked for assistance from the sheriff’s department and the mental health department at an Elochoman Valley home, where an individual seemed to be in crisis and suffering from hallucinations. 5:27 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that her son, a juvenile, had tried to kick her door down. Adult Protective Services asked the sheriff’s department for assistance. 5:29 p.m. Deputies, the Grays River ambulance, and a representative from the mental health department responded to a Rosburg home after an individual threatened self harm. The individual was transported to the hospital.

May 12 — 6:35 a.m. A caller reported that a suspicious person wearing a hoodie and walking along Beaver Creek Road would hide behind a tree every time a vehicle passed him. 9:30 a.m. A caller was concerned that a neighbor might be drinking and driving. Deputies responded and spoke with the individual. There were no signs of intoxication. 3:44 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident with respiratory issues. 5:01 p.m. A driver requested a vehicle unlock at a Rosedale business. 5:09 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Westend resident concerned he might have a blood pressure issue. He said he had a rash, bruising all over his body, swollen veins in his neck, and rapid breathing. 6:29 p.m. A caller reported that a screen had been removed from the window of a neighbor’s home at Cape Horn. The neighbor was not home and the caller was concerned that there may have been a break in. The homeowner was contacted, as well as another individual who cleaned the home. Two deputies responded and found that a screen had been removed from a second window. They could not find any signs of forced entry but found refuse from food under the back deck. Another neighbor contacted deputies and reported that a suspicious man had recently pulled down his driveway in a small brown truck. When he confronted the man, he gave him a nonsensical answer and left. 10:42 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that smoke was filling his bedroom after an electrical shock on his water heater. A deputy, state patrol, and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded. They reported that there was smoke but no flames. The power was turned off, and the PUD was notified.

May 13 — 8:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Alger Creek resident who had fallen and hurt his back. 9:20 a.m. A caller reported that a dog had gotten tangled up in something on her porch. The dog growled at her every time she tried to get near it. The dog’s owner was notified and en route. 3:26 p.m. The Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department aided a Deep River resident who was unable to get up without assistance.

May 14 — 12:50 a.m. A man was seen walking along SR 4 near County Line Park. Deputies offered him a ride to Naselle, but he refused. 5:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was having respiratory issues. 10:22 a.m. Deputies were asked to be on the lookout for an individual suspected of homicide with ties to the local area. The subject was later detained in Oregon. 11:23 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported finding bullet holes in his siding. Deputies investigated and determined that there was no evidence to support his claim. 11:42 a.m. A caller reported that the driver of a semi had attempted to pass him on SR 4. State patrol was notified. 1:16 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle at the marina. 4:41 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check for a Grays River resident. 6:11 p.m. A caller reported that she had been notified by her employer that someone had filed a fraudulent claim for unemployment in her name. 9:40 p.m. A caller reported that an unknown man had been dropped off at a county park on Puget Island. The caller said he was uncomfortable with the man possibly being there all night. A deputy responded but could not locate the individual. 10:20 p.m. A caller reported that two people were out in a Puget Island field with a spotlight. A deputy responded. The pair were looking for their lost cows.

May 15 — 9:47 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a fraudulent claim for unemployment had been made in her husband’s name. 10:40 a.m. A welfare check was requested for an individual at an Elochoman Valley home. 10:43 a.m. An east county resident reported a fraudulent unemployment claim. 12 p.m. A caller reported that an individual had blown a tire on his car on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. A deputy and state patrol responded. 12:41 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who had fallen. 12:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Alger Creek resident who needed a lift assist. 2:18 p.m. There was a report involving possible harassment and DUI activity at neighboring residences in Cathlamet. 4:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a disoriented Cathlamet resident who was having flashbacks and appeared to be in acute medical distress with a severe cough and shortness of breath. The individual refused transport to the hospital. 6:02 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle was driving up and down a Cathlamet street at high speeds. 7:19 p.m. A caller was concerned about an ailing Cathlamet resident who had refused aid. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded, and the individual was transported to the hospital. 8:08 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a fraudulent unemployment claim. 9:36 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an individual walking on West Sunny Sands who appeared to be agitated and was asking for the sheriff’s office. 10:01 p.m. A caller reported that two men might be trying to steal a tugboat from the marina. 10:31 p.m. A caller reported that an individual was sleeping on a bench in Cathlamet. A deputy responded and requested the Cathlamet ambulance, concerned that the person may have had a seizure.

May 16 — 12:07 a.m. A Cathlamet resident who had been transported to the hospital was concerned that he may have left the stove on. A deputy responded and turned the stove off. 8:46 a.m. The Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department aided a Deep River resident who had fallen. 12:53 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that a fraudulent unemployment claim had been made in his name. He also said that another account had been opened in his name. 12:54 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that his former neighbors had threatened to kill him. The individual later admitted to a deputy that he had used meth and had mental health issues. 1:03 p.m. A caller reported a one vehicle accident on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 1:35 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Grays River resident. 5:33 p.m. The Grays River ambulance transported a Deep River resident suffering from breathing issues to the hospital. 7:50 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle in Cathlamet. 8:22 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver at the marina. An individual was taken into custody after pulling into the parking lot of a Rosedale business.
