Westend writer asks 'What now?'

To The Eagle:

I told my son, that I would try to point to positive reasons for Biden, instead of negative Trump comments. I also said I’d have to close one eye, in order to not comment on his idiocy. That is extremely difficult, when during a double crisis, he tweets this: "vicious dogs" and "ominous weapons," “when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” etc., etc.

Many seem to think Obama caused the racism to increase. I think his election caused the already existing racism to show itself. The looting and violence will not, IMO, help the cause, but it has raised the awareness. Many who speak out in disgust at the violence are the same who spoke out against John Carlos for raising a fist on the Olympic podium. He paid for that, being blackballed the rest of his life. Or the ones who condemned Martin Luther King who paid with his life. Or against a knee by Colin Kaepernick, for which he is still black balled. That peaceful protest was vehemently called out by so many, including our president and vice president to the point of staging a public walk-out. So when peaceful protests seem futile, this is what happens.

While the virus is still alive and well, there is a little control over it, with many, me included, adhering to the be safe mode. The virus has brought out the disparity in those who have and those who have not. This especially goes to health coverage, which Trump and Republicans are doing their best to destroy. Millions have lost coverage due to loss of jobs. Getting new coverage, with so many having pre-existing conditions, may be difficult, again at the demise of Republican efforts to gut what Obama got started. We must elect Biden to help get coverage for those who need it and civility in The White House.

May God bless America.
