Rotary votes to cancel squirrel fest and tour de blast

On Tuesday, May 19 the Board of Directors with the Rotary Club of Longview voted to cancel this year’s 10th annual Squirrel Fest event that was scheduled for August 15 due to Covid-19. The event will return in the summer of 2021.

In addition to the cancellation of Squirrel Fest, the board also voted to cancel the annual Tour De Blast Bike Ride that was scheduled for Saturday, June 13. Tour De Blast will also move to the summer of 2021.

“We sincerely regret having to cancel these long-standing local events. These events are two big fundraisers for our Rotary Club, and we use the profits to fund local non-profits and projects. We hope to have these events return next summer with a new energy and passion,” said Neil Zick, President of the Rotary Club of Longview.

The Crafted Beer and Food event that had been scheduled for Saturday, July 18 has not been canceled, but postponed and moved to Saturday, September 26 at Longview’s Civic Circle Park. This year’s crafted event will have an Octoberfest theme.
